Auf geht's - mit Punkt 1... also mit "Flatterbärchen verdient sich Pluspunkte". Oder in anderen Worten mit dem monatlichen Update von Birgits Kalendern, bei dem ihr ein gewisses Gentlebärchen natürlich geholfen hat. Für den Mai zeigt unser Sprüchekalender ein sehr schönes Bild (auch wenn es noch ein bisschen zu früh für Kosmeen ist *kicher*) und ein Zitat von Sir Francis Bacon: "Der Duft der Blumen ist süßer in der Luft als in der Hand."

Es handelt sich dabei um Olszewski-Miniaturen aus Bronze, die von Goebel vertrieben wurden - und die normalerweise außerhalb von Birgits Budget sind. Aber es kamen dann drei Dinge zusammen: Birgit als bekennender Disney-Fan, eine großzügige stille Blogleserin, die ihrer Tochter vor zwei Jahren eine große Weihnachtsfreude machen wollte, und eine Olszewski-Sammlerin, die doppelte Figuren zu annehmbaren Preisen angeboten hat.
These are Olszewski miniatures made from bronze and distributed by Goebel - and usually they are absolutely out of Birgit's budget. But then three things came together: Birgit being well-known to be a Disney lover, a generous silent blog reader who wanted to bring her daughter enormous joy at Christmas two years ago and a collector of Olszewski who sold figurines she had twice at fair prices.

Und damit die 7 Zwerge eines Tages ihren Ehrenplatz in den beleuchteten Regalen einnehmen können, musste es ja mal wieder weiter gehen mit der Renovierung vom Bärchenhaus. Dessen Inneres sah beim letzten Mal so aus wie auf dem folgenden Bild: Tapeten und Böden entfernt und die Wände bereits mit Gesso gestrichen.
And to make sure that the 7 dwarfs will be able to find their place of honor in the illuminated shelves it was necessary to continue with the renovation of the Beary House. The last time when shown the interior was looking like at the following picture: Wallpapers and floors had been removed and the walls had received a coat of gesso.
Die Kringel und Pfeile sind allerdings neu *lach* - die sollen uns helfen, Euch Birgits Schwierigkeiten beim Anbringen der Elektrik zu verdeutlichen. Die Profis unter Euch werden vielleicht darüber schmunzeln, aber Birgit und Elektrik und das auch noch in einem bereits fertig gebauten Haus... ehrlich gesagt, das sind keine Schwierigkeiten, sondern SCHWIERIGKEITEN! *grins* Allerdings gestalteten sich auch die schwierigen Schwierigkeiten unterschiedlich. Im Wohnzimmer (1. Stock) war das noch relativ einfach, da konnten die erforderlichen Löcher für die Kabel einfach in die Rückwand gebohrt werden (die roten Kreise sind übrigens für die Regale - welches Kabel durch das Loch im gelben Kreis geht, verraten wir noch nicht *flöt*). Im Dachgeschoss dagegen war das nicht möglich, denn hinter der Schräge befinden sich ja bereits die Dachziegel. Aber Birgit hatte Glück, denn ihr fiel auf, dass zwischen Dachschräge und Fußboden eine Lücke war (grüne Pfeile), durch die man die Kabel durchziehen konnte, so das sie auf der Rückwand direkt unter dem Dach rauskommen. Perfekt! Und der Balken oben, der die Scharniere für das vordere Dach hält, ist genau richtig zum Anbringen der Lämpchen, denn dahinter ist noch etwas Platz (blaue Pfeile, Ihr seht vielleicht den Schatten). Aber wie sagt man... keine Rose ohne Dornen... nun waren zwar die Lämpchen angebracht und die Kabel hingen an der Rückwand, aber innen mussten die Kabel auch noch irgendwie unsichtbar werden.
But the circles and arrows are new *LOL* - they shall help us to show Birgit's difficulties with attaching the electrics. Perhaps the pros among you might be smiling now but Birgit and electrics and all of this in an already built house... honestly speaking, these are not difficulties, this is about DIFFICULTIES! *grin* However those difficult difficulties came along in different grades. In the living room (1st floor) it was somehow easy still because the necessary holes could simply be drilled into the back wall (btw the red circles mark the holes for the shelves - but what is supposed to go through the hole in the yellow circle is something we won't tell yet *tweet*). For the attic this was not possible because right after the slope wall there are already the roof tiles. But Birgit was lucky because she noticed that between the sloping wall and the floor was a gap (green arrows) that allowed to pull the wires through which are now coming out at the back wall right under the roof. Perfect! And the top bar which is holding the hinges for the front part of the roof is just right for attaching the small lamps because behind it there's a bit of space left (blue arrows, maybe you notice the shadow). But as the saying goes... every rose has its thorns... now the lamps were attached and the wires hanging from the back wall but inside the wires still needed to become somehow invisible.
Noch nicht unsichtbar genug! *lach* Nun leben wir hier aber im wirklichen Leben auch unter dem Dach - Birgit kennt sich also mit Dachschrägen aus... und damit, wie man schwierige Tapezierarbeiten dauerhaft vermeiden kann. In Birgits Fall mit weißen Holzpaneelen - die könnt Ihr im Hintergrund des folgenden Fotos sehen... und auch, dass Birgit ihre realen Erfahrungen für das Bärchenhaus genutzt hat.
Not yet invisible enough! *LOL* Well, in RL around here we're also living under the roof - that's why Birgit is familiar with sloping walls... and how to avoid difficult wallpaper work on them. In Birgit's case the sloping walls are covered with white wooden panels - which you can see in the background of the next photo... which also shows that Birgit used her RL experiences for the Beary House.
Es besteht übrigens kein Grund zur Sorge, der Boden war hier noch nicht fixiert. *grins* Nun war es Zeit, eine Rückwand zu bauen...
Btw there's no reason to worry, at this time the floor was not fixed yet. *grin* Now it was time to build a back wall...

Das waren die Zierleisten von den drei Giebeln des Bärchenhauses.
These were the gingerbread trims of the three gables of the Beary House.
Die hat Birgit mit als Erstes entfernt, weil sie die nie leiden konnte. Das erwies sich nun als Fehler, denn wenn man genau hinschaut, sind die perfekt für ein Haus mit einem maritimen Thema. Aber zum Glück hatte Birgit bisher nur die Leisten von zwei Giebeln entfernt und die beiden restlichen Stücke haben für die Rückwand gereicht. Schade, wäre schön gewesen, die auch als Fußleisten für die Seitenwände zu verwenden... wie auch immer... mit ein bisschen Farbe passend zu den Möbeln sieht das nun so aus:
Birgit had ripped them off at the beginning of the makeover because she never liked them. This turned out to be a mistake now because when looking closer at them they appear to be perfect for a house with a maritime theme. But luckily Birgit had so far just removed the trims of two gables and the remaining two strips were enough for the back wall. Nevertheless, it would have been nice to use those as baseboards at the side walls... anyhow... with a bit of paint which matches with the furniture it looks like this now:
Und wie Ihr seht, hat Birgit auch an einen Zugang gedacht, damit der Stauraum dahinter nicht verloren geht.
As you can see Birgit did not forget to build an access to the storage space behind the wall.
An dieser Stelle ein bärsönliches Wort an die "Königin der Scharniere" alias Betsy: Wir wissen, das ist hart für Dich... keine Scharniere... tut uns auch echt leid, aber unsere echten Zugänge zur Abseite funktionieren auch nur mit Magneten. Beweisfoto aus Birgits Wohnzimmer:

Das beweist außerdem noch mal meine Behauptung, das Birgit ein Disney-Fan ist... rechts sieht man nämlich ein Faksimile eines Donald Duck-Comic Strips von Al Taliaferro aus dem Jahre 1941. Yep, so was hängt bei Birgit an der Wand... aber zurück zu den Wänden im Dachgeschoß des Bärchenhauses. Nachdem alles fixiert ist - inklusive Perlen als Lampenschirme und Fußleisten - sieht das Dachgeschoß so aus:

Yep, this is the stuff hanging on Birgit's walls... but back to the walls in the attic of the Beary House. Wie wir Norddeutschen in unserer eigenen Sprache zu sagen pflegen: "N beten scheef het Gott leef" (Für unsere Hochdeutsch sprechenden Leser: "Ein bisschen schief hat Gott lieb" *grins*) - bei Birgit unterm Dach ist auch nicht alles gerade. Und hier noch mal das Dachgeschoß ohne BiWuBärchen aber dafür mit Licht:
As we people from Northern Germany use to say in our local dialect/language: "N beten scheef het Gott leef" which means God loves it when it's not completely straight. *grin* - under Birgit's real roof there's also not everything straight. And here's once more the attic with lights instead of BiWuBearies:
Dafür, dass Birgit eine derartige Beleuchtung zum allerersten Mal gemacht hat, ist der Raum doch ganz gut hell. Und wenn man genau hinschaut, dann leuchtet es sogar schon im 1. Stock... aber das ist Thema in einem anderen Post. Bevor wir uns für heute verabschieden, möchten wir Euch noch ganz schnell eine Bastelei zeigen, die Birgit aus einem sehr freudigen Anlass gemacht hat. Die Tochter von Birgits Langzeitfreundin (die beiden kennen sich tatsächlich schon seit 40 Jahren) ist kürzlich zum ersten Mal Mutter geworden - da musste natürlich ein kleines Willkommensgeschenk her.
Regarding that Birgit made such an illumination for the first time the room is quite well illuminated. And if you'd have a closer look you might recognize that there's already lights in the 1st floor... but this is a theme for another post. Before we're saying goodbye for today we would like to show you still a little craft along that Birgit made for a very happy occasion. The daughter of Birgit's longtime friend (in fact they know each other since 40 years now) gave birth to her first child a while ago - and this demanded the making of a small welcome gift.

13 Narzissen für den Geburtstag (doch, ja... es sind wirklich 13, das ist auf dem Bild schlecht zu sehen... schaut genau hin, links sind 5 Blüten und 2 Knospen und rechts 5 Blüten und 1 Knospe *zwinker*), 4 Tulpen für den Geburtsmonat und 20 Blüten am Baum für das Geburtsjahr.
13 daffodils for the day of birth (believe me... there are indeed 13 of them, it's hard to see... look closer, at the left there are 5 flowers and 2 buds and at the right 5 flowers and 1 bud *wink*), 4 tulips for the month of birth and 20 flowers in the tree for the year of birth.

Das beweist außerdem noch mal meine Behauptung, das Birgit ein Disney-Fan ist... rechts sieht man nämlich ein Faksimile eines Donald Duck-Comic Strips von Al Taliaferro aus dem Jahre 1941. Yep, so was hängt bei Birgit an der Wand... aber zurück zu den Wänden im Dachgeschoß des Bärchenhauses. Nachdem alles fixiert ist - inklusive Perlen als Lampenschirme und Fußleisten - sieht das Dachgeschoß so aus:
This also proves my remark that Birgit is a Disney fan... on the right you're able to see a facsimile of a Donald Duck comic strip by Al Taliaferro from the year 1941. Yep, this is the stuff hanging on Birgit's walls... but back to the walls in the attic of the Beary House. After everything was fixed - including pearls als lamp shades and skirting - the attic is looking like this:

Wie wir Norddeutschen in unserer eigenen Sprache zu sagen pflegen: "N beten scheef het Gott leef" (Für unsere Hochdeutsch sprechenden Leser: "Ein bisschen schief hat Gott lieb" *grins*) - bei Birgit unterm Dach ist auch nicht alles gerade. Und hier noch mal das Dachgeschoß ohne BiWuBärchen aber dafür mit Licht:
As we people from Northern Germany use to say in our local dialect/language: "N beten scheef het Gott leef" which means God loves it when it's not completely straight. *grin* - under Birgit's real roof there's also not everything straight. And here's once more the attic with lights instead of BiWuBearies:
Dafür, dass Birgit eine derartige Beleuchtung zum allerersten Mal gemacht hat, ist der Raum doch ganz gut hell. Und wenn man genau hinschaut, dann leuchtet es sogar schon im 1. Stock... aber das ist Thema in einem anderen Post. Bevor wir uns für heute verabschieden, möchten wir Euch noch ganz schnell eine Bastelei zeigen, die Birgit aus einem sehr freudigen Anlass gemacht hat. Die Tochter von Birgits Langzeitfreundin (die beiden kennen sich tatsächlich schon seit 40 Jahren) ist kürzlich zum ersten Mal Mutter geworden - da musste natürlich ein kleines Willkommensgeschenk her.
Regarding that Birgit made such an illumination for the first time the room is quite well illuminated. And if you'd have a closer look you might recognize that there's already lights in the 1st floor... but this is a theme for another post. Before we're saying goodbye for today we would like to show you still a little craft along that Birgit made for a very happy occasion. The daughter of Birgit's longtime friend (in fact they know each other since 40 years now) gave birth to her first child a while ago - and this demanded the making of a small welcome gift.

13 Narzissen für den Geburtstag (doch, ja... es sind wirklich 13, das ist auf dem Bild schlecht zu sehen... schaut genau hin, links sind 5 Blüten und 2 Knospen und rechts 5 Blüten und 1 Knospe *zwinker*), 4 Tulpen für den Geburtsmonat und 20 Blüten am Baum für das Geburtsjahr.
13 daffodils for the day of birth (believe me... there are indeed 13 of them, it's hard to see... look closer, at the left there are 5 flowers and 2 buds and at the right 5 flowers and 1 bud *wink*), 4 tulips for the month of birth and 20 flowers in the tree for the year of birth.
