Advent, Advent... das 1. Lichtlein brennt

Hallo

und liebe Grüße zum 1. Advent!
... and heartfelt greetings at the 1st Sunday of Advent! Not it's the time... when the wonderful Christmas season begins officially. *beams-with-joy* The Christmas Markets are now open, the shops started a battle of discounts, next Thursday I am finally allowed to open the fist door of my Advent calendar and today we are going to lit the first candle at our Advent wreath. And of course Christmas season was opened around here with the long awaited first exclamation by Birgit: "I have too much Christmas stuff for sure!!!" *LOL* Well, I can tell you that also in this year Birgit managed once more to find a place for all of her Christmas stuff and was done in time for Advent 1st. And of course Strawberry Cottage has changed into Christmas Cottage now.

*schluck*)
Ah... I just love my home! *smile* And of course the BiWuBeary Christmas Market has opened again - and you can make just one single guess who is going to visit it later on to meet dear BiWuBeary friends to enjoy some mulled wine and some yummy treats... And in case you might find this riddle too tricky *giggle* I've prepared another visual helper! You know me... once a gentlebeary, always a gentlebeary (and I can still need every good point in Santa's Golden Book... *gulp*)

Yesterday Birgit too visited a Christmas Market... in Schwerin (The capitol of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, one of the northern states of Germany and former part of the GDR). No need to tell that I wasn't allowed to go on that trip with her - Birgit is always afraid I might get lost in such a crowd. *sigh* Well... she might be right somehow... pickpockets too love to visit Christmas Markets. But it's always annoying when crowded places hold Birgit back from taking her camera out... the only pictures she brought home were photos from Schwerin Castle. *sigh* You must know Birgit joined a guided tour - visiting the parts that are somehow museum, sadly not to the parts that host the local parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Anyhow, Schwerin Castle is placed on an artificial island and you need to approach via a splendid bridge. (Editor's note: All faces of human beings wandering through Birgit's photos have been treated with photoshop)

Typical for seagulls - no manners!!! *giggle* As it is quite common with buildings like this the castle gets renovated...

... that's why we took two photos from our archives taken by Birgit in 2009 when she went to Schwerin to visit the National German Flower Show.

Now you are able to admire the castle in all its splendor. And it won't be a surprise that the builders took their inspiration from the French castles along the Loire, right? They're busy renovating the interior too and try to get back original furniture. Due to war time and the times of the GDR many pieces got lost. Every room has an individual look - sometimes very light...

...  oder aber dunkel und mächtig.
... and sometimes dark and mighty.

Noblesse oblige... *grins*
The pictures above show some interesting details. The ceilings for example look like panels being carved by skilled wood artists but they are indeed "Mecklenburger Pappmaché". Incredible... all of this is just treated paper. And it's stunning that they are not able to do this anymore - they know the "recipe" but not how to handle this. Luckily it's still in a very good condition. Interesting too is the white panel on the wall in the last two pictures of the Duke's salon. In former times there stood a big oven with tiles... but it got plundered together with many more pieces and they tried to mask this by placing a cabinet in front of it. And if you're looking at the picture with the table surrounded by chairs you can recognize on which chairs the duke and the duchess were sitting. Noblesse oblige... *grin*

This beautiful vase made of china from Delft is a little greeting to Ilona (*waveshello*)...

... and here's a picture from the throne room.

And before Rosey and I are going to wish you a wonderful 1st Advent I have a little riddle for you in store. I have told you last time that Birgit has crafted a tiny addition for the BiWuBeary Christmas Market. Of course I'm going to show this piece soon to you but until then you can already guess what it might be:

Haha... gemeines Foto, ich geb's zu. Hier noch ein 2. Hinweis:
Teehhee... a mean photo, I admit it. Here's a 2nd hint:

Aber nun wird es Zeit, die 1. Kerze am Adventskranz anzuzünden:
But now it's time to lit the first candle at the Advent wreath:

Rosey and I will enjoy a wonderful, cozy Adventsundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" now before we are going to visit the BiWuBeary Christmas Market later on. But before we do so we are wishing to you a wonderful 1st Advent, a great start into beautiful Christmas season and of course loads of fun later on enjoying a nice and cozy Adventsundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" having one, two cups of tasty Adventsundayafternooncoffee with one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Adventsondayafternooncake! Yes, you see... I can still do this well! ;O)

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Halloooo Fluby and Halloooo Rosey!!! It is wonderful to know that the Christmas Market is open!!! I will guess that perhaps there is a new Market Cart???? I could just see some wheel spokes in the blurry picture and that looked like a handle in that other photo? And I must say, Fluby, you are the luckiest Beary in the World to have your house completely transformed into a Christmas Cottage for the season!!! You have all the comforts and all the decorations and perfect Birgit touches... I LOVE those snowmen on your bed posts!!! LOL! :):) As for the first Sunday of advent... I must hurry up and light the beautiful Advent Wreath you sent me last year ... (or was it two years ago... or three???? ) I can see I have some catching up to do!LOL!
And the castle that Birgit was visiting certainly has some gorgeous details for inspiring Miniature Castle Decorators like me! LOL! I must confess I am glad she kept you safe at home.... we could not Bear it if you were missing!!!!
I look forward to seeing the further Adventures of the Christmas Market! And of course, I am glad you still offer your Kaffeeklatch advice! LOL! (I must hurry up with my baking too.....!!!!):):)

Fluby,

Hallo liebe Freunde! I know I'm late, but large moving house is quite exhausting ;).
I see that your Birgit had a wonderful trip to Schwerin, wow, what a beautiful castle they have there. I am in awe of its splendor, oh dear, it's really very beautiful! I'm thankful to Birgit that she can show us some wonderful pictures. I hope she had a cosy and lovely day there! And yes, indeed I LOVE the picture of the tulip vase, it really has to be filled with tulips ;)!
And for you, Fluby, you're a lucky bird, eh beary, that your house can changed every year into a cosy and wonderful Christmas cottage, that's so sweet of Birgit. But what to expect from someone, who adores the Advent/Christmastime most, hehehe ;)!
So, you're telling us that the Christmas market has changed, but in what way...?? I've seen the blurry pictures, but I absolutely can't guess what it will be.....a new cart, new visitors....oh, I really don't know!? I hope to see it soon here on the blog.
For now I'm wishing you all a great Advent time and enjoy all of these weeks, because before you know it, it will be Christmas!! That reminds me to a lot of work to be done here ;)!!
Liebe Grüsse an Ihr allen,
Schepje (who is excited too, of course, the Advent time is his season too and we've got a very cold night last night, with severe frost, so everything is covered with a thin white layer of frost, which sparkles, sooo beautiful. We will go out whenever we can find some time :D!!) oh ja, und Ilona ;O

Besos:-)

Ulrike
