Hallo,
... yes, have a look... Rosey and I want to ride our bicycles today... *smile* We are going to start the "Tour de Kürbis"!
... yes, have a look... Rosey and I want to ride our bicycles today... *smile* We are going to start the "Tour de Kürbis"!
I suppose most of you will remember that Birgit made bicycles for us, of course in a bearsonal Fluby- or Rosey-style. Birgit really likes to bring a little joy to her bearies... and she could use the experiences she had made while creating these when she received a customer request via her Etsy shop. A Halloween scene with a bike it should be... and after some questions and answers it appeared that the customer had some special requests:
- The bike should look old and rusty.
- There should be magical pumpkins, but not too many... and some of them in green.
- The bike should be decorated with a wreath and a rusty bucket filled with twigs.
- There should be a crate filled with gourds on the bike rack.

- "Gourds"? Was genau ist unter "gourds" zu verstehen???
Birgit's first reaction after receiving this custom order could be described like this: "???????" And regarding the special requests Birgit had the following problems:
- So far none of Birgit's projects had ever had to deal with rust.
- So far all of Birgit's magical pumpkins were wearing a proud orange.
- Gourds? How do gourds look like at all? (Here in Germany we usually make not many differences, we have one word for this group of vegetables that is "Kürbis"... and whether it is a pumpkin, a squash or a gourd... for us it's a pumpkin. Well, we usually call a gourd "Zierkürbis" which would be a "decorative pumpkin" in English)

*schmunzel*)
But my Birgit loves to take a challenge so she gave it a try. And it was helpful right from the beginning that Birgit was lucky to have an inspiration in her head how a bike could look like as a garden decoration. This inspiration comes from our dear blog friend Yvonne who not only owns a true dream garden (which was already featured in several garden magazines, well deserved for sure) but has indeed a bike in her garden which she decorates according to the season. We have "stolen" a picture from Yvonne's blog to give you an impression...

So Birgit had some kind of a "vision" for the start... and with the customer's permission she ordered a bike.

*lach*
And regarding the problems with rust and varieties of "Kürbis"... well, it should be possible to solve this somehow. The green pumpkins were of course the easiest task because Birgit's magical pumpkins are always fully hand painted. In the gourds' case a little research was needed... in the internet but also here at our place. For example Birgit discovered a very beautiful gourd in our local flower shop - it was white with orange stripes and green dots... It's always fascinating what Mother Nature is able to do, isn't it? And because gourds do not only come in many colours but also in all sorts of shapes Birgit came up with the conclusion that this could mean there might exist Birgit-freestyle-gourds too - and had a look in her polymer clay if some of them could be found in there. And what am I supposed to tell you - she really found some! *LOL*

Nach einem Date mit Birgits Pinseln sahen die Hoffentlich-sehen-wir-wenigstens-einigermaßen-wie-Zierkürbisse-aus-Kandidaten dann so aus:
After a date with Birgit's brushes the Hopefully-we-look-at-least-a-little-bit-like-gourds-candidates looked like this:

And you can see... there are also two green pumpkins. But there was still the topic of the rust... so Birgit grabbed her courage... and after a little dose of Birgit touch was added too Rosey and I were able to admire a Halloween bike in the end.

Just right for the "Tour de Kürbis"... *giggle* And this is going to start now... coming along as a small picture flood:

Well, the customer was really happy with this Halloween bike scene... And we have been really happy lately because some time ago we were lucky to win a giveaway hosted by dear Alex. *beams-with-joy* Just look, these are the beautiful items we've received:

Und noch mal im Detail:
And a little closer:
Dear Alex, once more we would like to say "Muchas gracias" to you! Thanks for sending us these awesome miniatures, we are really happy to own them!
Aren't they beautiful? These fantastic miniatures will get places of honor, that's for sure! But we need to bring the "Tour de Kürbis" to an end first... and it should be no surprise at all that this will end at Pumpkin Cottage! *smile* There has been quite some progress - the building's construction is done:
After this the ceiling/floor could be fixed and the stairwell could be attached.
So hängt z.
And maybe some of you noticed - Birgit likes to add some repeat details to her projects. For example in every house owned by a BiWuBeary a copy of the collage being our side blog's header can be found. And because Pumpkin Cottage is a magical building its kitchen ceiling has a connection to the kitchen ceiling of a certain witch tower.
Yes, in the old witch tower of Magica de Spell cooking is done under such a stylish ceiling... *giggle* And here's a little test run at the upper floor of Pumpkin Cottage:
Not that bad at all... but now it was time to care about the roof. This was another challenge for Birgit because so far she had never made a roof with shingles before. Luckily a fantasy building like this can cope with a bit of Birgit freestyle - and so a sheet of heavy structured paper was taken and painted with water colours and afterwards a pair of scissors was needed.
Sad somehow but this time Birgit lacked a bit of patience, sure, she was eager to see how all of this would look in the end... And that's why she didn't keep in mind that the edges of those shingles would look way better when being colored. Ooops... anyway, this was the very first try and it won't happen again next time. I could think of things even worse than that, and indeed, not a single curse in Ancient Babylon could be heard... and in the end you can only notice it in close-up. Here in this picture Birgit's little failure is not visible.
*grins*
But you can easily see at the last picture that sometimes my Birgit's head is full of nonsense... *grin*
Perhaps one of the reasons why I like my Birgit so much... ;O)
Liebe Grüße / Hugs

Halloooooo!! Nice to see a new blog post from you. I'm happy to read that your customer was (of course) with the Halloween bike scene, it looks gorgeous. Please, pass on my compliment about the rust to your Birgit: it's well done! The pumpkins and gourds look wonderful, just as the rest of the scene.
Congratulations on winning the giveaway, enjoy your prize!
Pumpkin Cottage is developping itself into a true magical home, your Birgit has done a good job on the shingles of the roof. But you say there's a flaw in the roof shingles....??? I can't find one ;). And cursing? Who?? Your Birgit......nooooo, never ever hahaha ;O! So, regarding the last picture, you say that Birgit is fooling with you, well, I guess she's right, because there IS a BiWuBaerchen on the roof, just like Sinterklaas, or in your case Santa at the end of the year.......and you know what I would like to say to you now, Fluby hehehehe :D!
Liebe Grüsse to all of you, including your Birgit and her Mom!
Schepje, Little Me und Ilona
Oh I love the bicycles scenes, both your Birgit's and Yvonne's.
Congratulations on your lovely win. Birgit has been very busy with wonderful results. The pumpkin house looks terrific, shingles chimney and all. Tell Birgit her curses were wasted in vain.
It's too early to say Happy Halloween and until then, Hugs to you happy bicyclers and of course to Birgit too.

Dear Fluby and Rosey, thank you for bringing us the Tour of the Kurbis!!! At first I had to wonder what was a Kurbis.... but I found out soon enough and then it all made perfect sense! Not only that but I think Birgit's customer got what she asked for plus ten times more over that with Birgit's imagination and talent! The gourds are Wonderful... clearly Birgit is a "natural" with these vegetables! And the rest of the decoration of the bicycle is equally well done! I have the same problem with rust... I have never made any in my projects! Birgit completely mastered that one right away! I just Love it!!! And beyond that there is also more of Pumpkin Cottage to see....! It is clearly going to be a wonderfully magical home when it is done! The roof is looking wonderful and "wonky" as it should! And as you are probably aware, I love to see when ceilings are as decorated as the other parts of a home!!! :) I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween.... and be sure to drop by for the Party at the Castle! :)
Besos.

Hello Flubby,
That is one lucky client! the vignette is just beautiful. The rust, the pumpkins...everything is just beautiful. Well done Birgit! Congratulations on winning the giveaway. I am just in love with the cottage. the ceiling is lovely and adds much to an already beautifully detailed space. I looked closely at the pictures, and honestly the roof looks wonderful to me. I already love this cottage and cannot wait to see more.
Big hug

Hello ,

Guten Morgen Ihr Lieben
Oh my, it seems that you are posting quicker than I can comment! That Halloween scene is just gorgeous, I am in love with it. Birgit pumpkins are amazing. I am very happy that you all like my little things and feel so honoured to see them here in your blog, thank you!!
Lieber Fluby,
Dein Fudge
