so, nun ist das erste Quartal des Jahres bereits vorbei und der April ist da. Und was für ein April... wir alle finden uns in einer Situation wieder, die wir uns noch vor ein paar Wochen nicht als Realität vorstellen konnten. Wir hoffen sehr, dass es Euch allen gut geht!

Unsere liebe Freundin Drora hat kürzlich in einem ihrer Posts geschrieben, dass ihr im Moment Miniatur-Blumen am meisten Freude bereiten - und das geht unserer Birgit ganz genau so. Das liegt natürlich am Frühling aber wohl auch an diesen besonderen Zeiten, dass man irgendwie das Bedürfnis nach Farbe hat... (Und ganz unter uns *flüster*... in Birgits Fall hat es auch noch etwas damit zu tun dass bei ihr gerade lauter Aufgaben anstehen, die sie nicht gerne macht... Fußböden, Wände, Lichtinstallation... heißt so was in der Psychologie nicht Verdrängung? *grins*) Und nicht nur nach Farbe - wie Ralph Waldo Emerson so schön geschrieben hat: "Blumen sind das Lächeln der Erde". Tja, die Erde und wir können im Moment wohl jedes Lächeln gut gebrauchen... 😊

Zum einen wird Flower Cottage eine größere Grundplatte bekommen, die die gesamte Oberfläche des Regals nutzt. Dadurch ergibt sich insbesondere vor der Fensterfront Platz für zusätzliche Gestaltung... Rosey träumt von einer Gartenbank und natürlich zusätzlichen Blumen. Außerdem ist Roseys Garten sehr symmetrisch was gar nicht beabsichtigt war, sich aber ergeben hat durch das Blumenbeet und vor allem dadurch, dass nicht mehr "Steine" für die Terrasse vorhanden waren. Auch das möchte Birgit bei der Gelegenheit besser machen... und natürlich die vorhandenen Blumen durch neue ergänzen. Da traf es sich gut, dass Birgit einige Bastelpackungen bei Ebe von Moonflowerminigarden gekauft hatte (vielleicht erinnert Ihr Euch - von Ebe ist auch unsere Weihnachtsgans Abby) - begonnen hat sie mit Kosmeen in zwei Pinktönen. Was sonst - wir reden hier schließlich von Roseys Garten... *augenroll*
On the one hand Flower Cottage will get a bigger base which will be using the whole space of the shelf. By this there will be more room for additional touches, especially in front of the windows... Rosey is dreaming of a garden bench and of course of many more flowers. On the other hand Rosey's garden is very symmetrical which wasn't intented at all but just happened because of the flower rabate and even more because of the fact that there weren't more "stones" left for the terrace. Birgit wants to improve this too... and will also add new flowers to the ones that are already there. So it came in handy that Birgit had bought several kits from Ebe of Moonflowerminigarden (maybe you remember - Ebe also made our Christmas goose Abby) - and she started with cosmos in two shades of pink. What else to expect, I mean... we're talking about Rosey's garden... *rolls-his-eyes*

Die Blumen sind natürlich noch nicht endgültig gepflanzt, die sollen ja später in Roseys Garten. Und sie sind auch noch nicht endgültig in Form - bis auf die rechts im Bild in der weißen Schale. Die Kosmeen-Bastelsets waren klasse, ganz einfach und schnell zu machen. Danach hat Birgit sich an etwas Schwierigeres gewagt: Fingerhut. Die Bastelpackung beinhaltet zweifarbige Blütenblätter in 3 verschiedenen Größen, von denen jedes zu einer kleinen Tüte gerollt werden muss. Schaut mal, wir zeigen Euch hier die verschieden großen Blätter sowie eine "Beispieltüte" in mittlerer Größe (und Ihr seht auch schon die Einzelteile der Stiefmütterchen, zu denen wir etwas später kommen).
Of course the flowers are not finally planted because they are meant to go into Rosey's garden later. And they're not finally shaped - except for those in the white bowl at the right side of the picture. The cosmos kits were terrific, very easy and fast to make. After this Birgit took the courage to start something more difficult: Foxgloves. This kit contains two-side-coloured petals in three different sizes and each of them needs to be rolled into a tiny cone. Have a look, we're showing you the different sized petals and an example cone of medium size (and you can already see the single parts of the pansies we're going to show a little later).
Und laut Anleitung sollen für eine Fingerhutblüte 105 solcher Einzelblütentüten verwendet werden. Holla - das gab klebrige Finger! *lach* Aber es kam was dabei raus:
And according to the instructions each foxglove shall be made of 105 single petal cones. Oh my - this meant sticky fingers for sure! *LOL* But it lead to a result:
Nach weiteren 105 Blüten ist inzwischen auch der zweite Fingerhut fertig - und weil Birgit inzwischen mehr Übung hat, ist hier die Form auch besser gelungen.
And after once more 105 petals the second foxglove is also finished now - and because Birgit had enough practice by now its shape is also better.
Birgit hat noch eine Bastelpackung für noch zwei Fingerhutblüten, sie geht aber davon aus, dass sie wegen großzügiger Blattzugaben auch noch eine 5. machen kann. Bis dahin wartet Birgit auch mit dem Anmalen der Blütenspitze, damit alle Blüten gleichmäßig gefärbt werden. Rosey jedenfalls freut sich schon riesig, dass sie eine prächtige Fingerhutstaude in ihrem Garten haben wird. Und nicht nur die... es werden auch noch zwei Schwertlilien (Iris barbata) dort blühen. Eine davon ist schon fertig:
Birgit still has another kit for yet two more foxgloves but she thinks she will be able to make 5 flowers due to generous additional petals. Until then Birgit waits with painting the flower tips to make sure all flowers will get the same colour. Rosey is of course already over the moon because she will have a terrific foxglove plant in her garden. And not only this... there will also bloom two iris (iris barbata). One of them is already finished:
Auch dieser Bausatz hat Birgit begeistert - wenn man schon ein bisschen Übung mit Miniaturblumen hat, sind die nach der Anleitung ganz schnell gemacht.
Birgit was also excited about this kit - with a little experience in making miniature flowers these are easy to make by following the instructions.
Das galt auch für die 3. Iris im Bunde - die nicht für Roseys Garten bestimmt war, sondern für das Bärchenhaus. Iris gehören zu Birgits Lieblingsblumen und so konnte sie nicht widerstehen, eine große Vase aus ihren Irgendwann-für-Irgendwas-Kisten mit blauen Iris zu füllen. Das hier ist die Vase:
And this was also true about the third iris in the row - which was not meant to go into Rosey's garden but was dedicated for the Beary House. Iris are among Birgit's favourite flowers so she could not resist the idea to fill a big vase from her Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes with blue iris. This is the vase:
Die ist aus echtem Holz gedrechselt, deshalb hat Birgit beschlossen, sie so zu lassen, wie sie ist. Nicht unbedingt realistisch, so eine Vase aus Holz... aber es wäre wirklich schade um die schöne Maserung gewesen.
This was made from real wood that's why Birgit decided to leave it as it is. Of course not very realistic, a vase made of wood... but it would have been a pity to cover the wood grain.
Glaubt uns, wir haben nun ein Glas mit Wasser in die Vase gestellt... *kicher*

Damit kann man auch als Anfänger ein tolles Ergebnis erzielen. Birgit hat allerdings den Blättern noch eine sanfte Farbtönung verpasst - und die Spitzen etwas *ähöm* realistischer gestaltet. *grins* Auf dem Foto seht Ihr das Originalblatt in der Mitte, die beiden außen haben bereits Bekanntschaft mit Birgit gemacht.
With this even beginners would be able to get a fantastic result. But Birgit still added a bit of shading to the leaves - and the tips got a more *ahem* realistic look. *grin* At the photo you can see the original leaf in the middle while the other ones got acquainted with Birgit.

... aber einen weißen Anstrich bekam und außerdem ein paar maritime Zierelemente (aus Knöpfen), denn die Palme soll ja ins Bärchenhaus.

Birgit ruft gerade aus dem Hintergrund, dass der fürs Weihnachtshaus bestimmt ist und dass ich mich bitte daran erinnern solle, dass ich ja bereits glücklicher Besitzer des Koffergartens bin, den Sans! extra für mich gemacht hat. (Leider konnten wir ihren Blog nicht mehr anklicken - schon schade, wie viele Blogger inzwischen aufgehört haben).

Birgit is just calling from the background that this one is meant to go into the Christmas House and that I should start to remember that I'm already the happy owner of the suitcase garden which Sans! had made just for me. (Sorry, but we could not get access to her blog anymore - it's sad how many bloggers left blogland over the years)

Selbstverständlich habe ich auch diesen Monat meiner Birgit beim Umstellen ihrer vielen Kalender geholfen - Ihr wisst ja, Gentlebär von Kopf bis Fuß (und dieser Gentlebär will jetzt unbedingt auch so einen schicken Koffergarten auf Beinen... allerdings darf der gerne anders bepflanzt sein... mit Pflanzen, die süße, rote, saftige, aromatische Früchte tragen zum Beispiel... ach ja... Erdbeeren... äh... wo war ich... ach ja... Kalender...). Für den April zeigt unser Sprüchekalender wie immer ein schönes Bild und diesmal ein Zitat von Theodor Fontane: "Wenn man glücklich ist, soll man nicht noch glücklicher sein wollen."
... but not without showing the calendar picture for April. Of course I've helped my Birgit once more this month with the update of her many calendars - you know me, I'm a gentlebeary from top to toe (and this gentlebeary really wants to have such a fantastic suitcase garden on legs too... however mine should be planted differently... with plants carrying sweet, red, juicy, aromatic fruits for example... oh my... strawberries... eh... where was I... oh yes... calendar...). For April our wisdom calendar is showing another nice picture and this month's saying is by Theodor Fontane who pointed out that if one was happy he or she should not intent to become even happier.
Ja, da kann ich nur zustimmen, Zufriedenheit und Dankbarkeit, für das was man hat, sind wirklich wichtig zum Glücklichsein. Seien wir also zufrieden, dankbar und glücklich darüber, dass wir noch gesund sind und dass Ihr Euer Hobby habt, mit dem Ihr diese besonderen Zeiten wenigstens für eine Weile vergessen könnt. Passt gut auf Euch auf!
Yes, I can really agree with that, satisfaction and gratitude for what we have are for sure important for happiness. So let's be satisfied, thankful and happy about being healthy still and that all of you are lucky to have a hobby that helps to forget about these special times at least for a while. The colors already give a hint what their destination will be - the blue suitcase will go of course into the Beary House, the pink one is meant for Flower Cottage and the red one for Strawberry Cottage... eh... oh... Birgit is just calling from the background that this one is meant to go into the Christmas House and that I should start to remember that I'm already the happy owner of the suitcase garden which Sans! had made just for me. (Sorry, but we could not get access to her blog anymore - it's sad how many bloggers left blogland over the years)

... aber natürlich nicht, ohne vorher noch das April-Kalenderblatt zu zeigen. Selbstverständlich habe ich auch diesen Monat meiner Birgit beim Umstellen ihrer vielen Kalender geholfen - Ihr wisst ja, Gentlebär von Kopf bis Fuß (und dieser Gentlebär will jetzt unbedingt auch so einen schicken Koffergarten auf Beinen... allerdings darf der gerne anders bepflanzt sein... mit Pflanzen, die süße, rote, saftige, aromatische Früchte tragen zum Beispiel... ach ja... Erdbeeren... äh... wo war ich... ach ja... Kalender...). Für den April zeigt unser Sprüchekalender wie immer ein schönes Bild und diesmal ein Zitat von Theodor Fontane: "Wenn man glücklich ist, soll man nicht noch glücklicher sein wollen."

Of course I've helped my Birgit once more this month with the update of her many calendars - you know me, I'm a gentlebeary from top to toe (and this gentlebeary really wants to have such a fantastic suitcase garden on legs too... however mine should be planted differently... with plants carrying sweet, red, juicy, aromatic fruits for example... oh my... strawberries... eh... where was I... oh yes... calendar...). For April our wisdom calendar is showing another nice picture and this month's saying is by Theodor Fontane who pointed out that if one was happy he or she should not intent to become even happier.
Ja, da kann ich nur zustimmen, Zufriedenheit und Dankbarkeit, für das was man hat, sind wirklich wichtig zum Glücklichsein. Seien wir also zufrieden, dankbar und glücklich darüber, dass wir noch gesund sind und dass Ihr Euer Hobby habt, mit dem Ihr diese besonderen Zeiten wenigstens für eine Weile vergessen könnt. Passt gut auf Euch auf!
Yes, I can really agree with that, satisfaction and gratitude for what we have are for sure important for happiness. So let's be satisfied, thankful and happy about being healthy still and that all of you are lucky to have a hobby that helps to forget about these special times at least for a while. Take good care of yourselves!

Oh thank you so much dear Flubby! I needed a reminder that It Is SPRING after all! Your post was just the right timing to remind us that once we make it through these hard times, and WE WILL, a time of beautiful renewal will come once again! We will all be adding to the garden stories of our lives just as Birgit has done for Rosey with these amazingly beautiful and vibrant flowers! Take good care of one another and keep bringing hope and humor to all!

Halloooo!! I see that spring is in the air ate your home too :)! What lovely and cheerful colored flowers can do, especially when you put them into suitcases.....ah well, that comes in handy when youhave plans for moving house ;O)!! I LOVE what your Birgit has created for the both of you and for herself too. I don't know how kits for mini plants are like, but it seems that you still can make them with a bit of presonal touch, and Birgit has done that perfectly!!
I'm very cheered up now, something I can use in these strange times.

Today April fooled us by briefly snowing again! It lasted for less than 15 minutes, then was gone as quickly as it came. Naturally when snow falls in April, one worries about the plants which have come into bloom but there was no need to worry after all: "hope springs eternal" as the old saying goes.
And when it comes to lilacs, they LOVE a good chill.
Meanwhile, I am drawn like a bee to pollen with the GORGEOUS flowers you have made while waiting for the various gardens they'll soon be installed in.
As it happens, I have all the same flower kits tucked away for my future Land's End garden, so I was especially excited to see how yours turned out along with your personal positive review. So now I'm chomping at the bit to get busy because mini gardens such as yours, not only makes US smile but makes the Earth Laugh too!

Hola Amigos! Me ha encantado esta entrada del blog! La primavera llegó aquí con un recordatorio de que el invierno puede decidir seguir entre nosotros y bajó la temperatura,menos mal que las flores siguen haciendo su aparición,aunque muchas han frenado su crecimiento.
Por eso ver esas maravillosas plantas de tantos colores y tan magistralmente hechas por Birgit,me ha animado,me ha hecho oler la naturaleza como huele en los paseos matinales cuando estallan todos los brotes florales!
Ya que seguimos en confinamiento,he podido pasear virtualmente por vuestros futuros jardines a la espera de poder hacer los paseos reales e imaginar lo asombrosos que quedarán!
La dedalera es espectacular,lo iris maravillosos,los pequeños cosmos tan delicados,la maravillosa palmera.....que gran trabajo!

Dear Fluby and Rosey and Birgit too, I am so glad to see you are filling your mini gardens with the Laughter of the Earth!!! Yes, we need it so much at this time of year... the tiny flowers that are so brave to come first through the snow and then the beautiful lush blooms of the later flowers! Aaahhh... I can feel the warm breezes too! Those kits that Birgit has finished look Awesome! And especially since so many of them got acquainted with Birgit's delicate painting touches! :) I can understand why Rosey is so happy that this project has begun... it is the right season for it! (That old C-Season is needing a rest!) And I can understand why Fluby wants a suitcase on legs for his garden... it would keep the strawberry plants from sending out their runners too quickly....! I Am sorry... I did not mean to make difficulties... if the Red suitcase is meant for the C-House... I am sure En To and Tre will have something to do with this!! But never mind... visiting the suitcase gardens will be fun no matter where they stand... especially if they are filled with such cheerful Laughing Lovelies as those Pansies! (I have pansies in my RL planters already!!!)
You are so right to remind us that we have a lot to be thankful for... especially all our friends around the world who can keep in touch even with "Social Distancing" in place!!! :):):)

WOW! Was für eine Blütenpracht. Birgit hat da so viel Fingerfertigkeit. Ich würde mir vermutlich dabei die Finger brechen. Nun bin ich schon sehr gespannt auf den Einsatz der Blumen.

Spring is here!! Rosey´s garden is beautiful, but I know that it will be even more after Birgit´s make over. She transforms what she touches in even more beautiful places. The new flowers are gorgeous. Birgit makes them look easy to make, they are from a kit which helps (thank you for the link!), but I´m sure they are no as easy as Birgit makes them look. My favourites are the Foxgloves and the blue iris, BEAUTIFUL!!
Soon you will be enjoying time out in Birgit´s garden and we will be delighted with series number 95642? of your beautiful photos, in the meantime enjoy your mini garden!

'Say it with flowers', has ben a commercial slogan for years and years on Dutch television. So much so that people actually use it sometimes as a proverb.
It came to mind when i see all these beautiful flowers. I have complete faith that the enlarged garden wil be more spectacular in full bloom than it already is!
