Hallo Mai! / Hello May!

Hallo,

... okay, now it's here - May... strange, the world is upside down but time keeps on flying away. Or does anybody of you know where the first four months of the years have gone to??? We really hope all of you are fine in these special times - when it can be helpful if some things are going on as they always used to do. Well, you can rely on us when it comes to this - this post is offering to you:

2.) Folge 93913 unserer *hüstel* beliebten Serie "Und schon wieder jede Menge Fotos von BiWuBärchen im Garten"
3.) Neueste Werkeleien von Birgit
1.) A flutterybeary which is always aware of the fact that one can't start too early to gain himself some good points in the Golden Book of Santa.
2.) Volume 93913 of our *coughcough* beloved series "And once more many pictures of BiWuBearies in the garden"
3.) New stuff crafted by Birgit

So let's start - with topic No. 1... which is "flutterybeary earns himself good points". Or in other words with the monthly update of Birgit's calendars and of course a certain gentlebeary helping her with that. For May our wisdom calendar is showing a lovely picture (although it's still a bit too early for cosmos *giggle*) and a saying by Sir Francis Bacon who said the scent of the flowers would be much sweeter in the air than it was in the hand.

*grins* Schaut mal, ob Ihr meine kleine Schwester hier irgendwo entdecken könnt! Glaubt mir, sie ist da. *lach*
I can really agree with this, we also prefer to enjoy our flowers when they are blooming in the garden. Which brings us to topic No. 2 - here comes volume 93913... today additionally with our yearly special "Where is Rosey?" *grin* Have a look if you're able to spot my little sis'! Believe me, she's there. *LOL*

*schmunzel*
For all of you who haven't found her there'll be the solution at the end of the following picture flood. *smile*

And before we're reaching topic No. 3 I first owe you an apology: In our last post we've actually forgotten to show the finished shelves! *oops!* In the version you already know was an important detail missing still:

And while we're already showing this we can also reveal who is going to get the illuminated place of honor in the shelves. I may introduce you to (from the left to the right): The honorable gentlemen Dopey, Sleepy, Grumpy, Doc, Bashful, Sneezy and Happy.

These are Olszewski miniatures made from bronze and distributed by Goebel - and usually they are absolutely out of Birgit's budget. But then three things came together: Birgit being well-known to be a Disney lover, a generous silent blog reader who wanted to bring her daughter enormous joy at Christmas two years ago and a collector of Olszewski who sold figurines she had twice at fair prices.

And to make sure that the 7 dwarfs will be able to find their place of honor in the illuminated shelves it was necessary to continue with the renovation of the Beary House. The last time when shown the interior was looking like at the following picture: Wallpapers and floors had been removed and the walls had received a coat of gesso.

But the circles and arrows are new *LOL* - they shall  help us to show Birgit's difficulties with attaching the electrics. Perhaps the pros among you might be smiling now but Birgit and electrics and all of this in an already built house... honestly speaking, these are not difficulties, this is about DIFFICULTIES! *grin* However those difficult difficulties came along in different grades. In the living room (1st floor) it was somehow easy still because the necessary holes could simply be drilled into the back wall (btw the red circles mark the holes for the shelves - but what is supposed to go through the hole in the yellow circle is something we won't tell yet *tweet*). For the attic this was not possible because right after the slope wall there are already the roof tiles. But Birgit was lucky because she noticed that between the sloping wall and the floor was a gap (green arrows) that allowed to pull the wires through which are now coming out at the back wall right under the roof. Perfect! And the top bar which is holding the hinges for the front part of the roof is just right for attaching the small lamps because behind it there's a bit of space left (blue arrows, maybe you notice the shadow). But as the saying goes... every rose has its thorns... now the lamps were attached and the wires hanging from the back wall but inside the wires still needed to become somehow invisible.

Not yet invisible enough! *LOL* Well, in RL around here we're also living under the roof - that's why Birgit is familiar with sloping walls... and how to avoid difficult wallpaper work on them. In Birgit's case the sloping walls are covered with white wooden panels - which you can see in the background of the next photo... which also shows that Birgit used her RL experiences for the Beary House.

Btw there's no reason to worry, at this time the floor was not fixed yet. *grin* Now it was time to build a back wall...

... which was stiffened from behind with a leftover of a special wooden trim.

Andere Teile dieser Leiste habt Ihr auf unserem Blog garantiert schon mal gesehen... nämlich hier: *kicher*
We're pretty sure that you've seen other parts of this trim at our blog before... in fact here: *giggle*

Als Nächstes kamen diese Leisten zum Einsatz:
Next to come were these wooden trims:

These were the gingerbread trims of the three gables of the Beary House.

Birgit had ripped them off at the beginning of the makeover because she never liked them. This turned out to be a mistake now because when looking closer at them they appear to be perfect for a house with a maritime theme. But luckily Birgit had so far just removed the trims of two gables and the remaining two strips were enough for the back wall. Nevertheless, it would have been nice to use those as baseboards at the side walls... anyhow... with a bit of paint which matches with the furniture it looks like this now:

As you can see Birgit did not forget to build an access to the storage space behind the wall.

Please allow me now a bearsonal word to the "Queen of Hinges" aka Betsy: We are aware that this is very hard for you... no hinges... and we are really sorry for this but our RL accesses to the spaces behind the back walls do also just work with magnets. Evidence photo from Birgit's living room:

This also proves my remark that Birgit is a Disney fan... on the right you're able to see a facsimile of a Donald Duck comic strip by Al Taliaferro from the year 1941. Yep, this is the stuff hanging on Birgit's walls... but back to the walls in the attic of the Beary House. After everything was fixed - including pearls als lamp shades and skirting - the attic is looking like this:

Über / about Al Taliaferro: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Taliaferro

As we people from Northern Germany use to say in our local dialect/language: "N beten scheef het Gott leef" which means God loves it when it's not completely straight. *grin*  - under Birgit's real roof there's also not everything straight. And here's once more the attic with lights instead of BiWuBearies:

Regarding that Birgit made such an illumination for the first time the room is quite well illuminated. And if you'd have a closer look you might recognize that there's already lights in the 1st floor... but this is a theme for another post. Before we're saying goodbye for today we would like to show you still a little craft along that Birgit made for a very happy occasion. The daughter of Birgit's longtime friend (in fact they know each other since 40 years now) gave birth to her first child a while ago - and this demanded the making of a small welcome gift.

And as this was made by Birgit there's even the date of birth hidden in the picture:

13 daffodils for the day of birth (believe me... there are indeed 13 of them, it's hard to see... look closer, at the left there are 5 flowers and 2 buds and at the right 5 flowers and 1 bud *wink*), 4 tulips for the month of birth and 20 flowers in the tree for the year of birth.

And with this we're saying goodbye for today and we're wishing to all of you a wonderful May! Take good care of yourselves and stay well and healthy!

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Where is Rosey indeed! I was finally able to spot her wee nose when I blew the photo up 200 times!!! Amazing flowers! I could look at them all day!
You deserve a hearty congratulations and a pat on the back for the ingenious and clever work on the attic lights, knee wall and trim! Fabulous work and what a charming, bright and spacious place!
The seven dwarves?!? Did you know that Snow White was the first Disney movie I ever saw? It is still my favorite! If only I were beautiful and could talk seven wee men to do all my work for me! Ho hum...
But who else on earth would love and appreciate them more than you? They are so special, and they belong with you! And they belong on their wonderful lighted shelves which you so lovingly made for them!
Louisa is also already a lucky little girl, for she has a beautiful handmade gift from one of the most talented, and definitely the most thoughtful, person on Earth!

Dear Fluby and Rosey, and Birgit too, It is a Good thing when there are things that stay the same even when life has been turned upside-down! The blossoms are opening as usual! The birds are singing too! And BiWuBeareys are frolicking in the blossoms!!! This made me smile, because Rosey sure is in "her" element in this season! What a beautiful show the tree is giving you this spring! :) And then there are Shocking revelations that I might never recover from regarding the absence of Hinges even in the RL doors!??!! What is the World coming to? Good old reliable mechanical sturdy Hinges are being replaced with items of dubious merit...!!! Magnets indeed! I am shocked!!! I might never recover! But it does help when I see how easily Birgit can build her attic access door.... and certainly the re-purposing of the unwanted trims turned out perfect for this house! See what happens when things are "turned upside-down"? :):) Well, I am glad to see the "waves" got rescued after all! And about those tiny figurines for the shelves.... WOW! They are Perfectly Amazing! And so Perfect for Birgit's collection! And the lights that were so Difficult turned out to work beautifully! (But really... no hinges...?! I might never get over this....!)! :):):)

Hallo Fluby, Rosey, Birgit and our silent reader ;O)! It's nice to see a blog of you, and certainly a treat to read the saying of this month! I agree that flowers/plants in the garden, or free nature are feeling better than in a vase ;). And as usual I'm a great fan of le tour de jardin, your beautiful garden. But you got me, I couldn't find Rosey at first instance, but later on I did. Well hidden in a cloud of pink cherry blossom.... I see that you both have enjoyed the garden as much as I do at this very moment/troubled times.
Being the very happy owner of one of them (I've got it for Christmas of your dear, generous Birgit), I now love seeing the cabinets filled in with the Olszewski miniatures, the gnomes of Snowwhite, kown of Disney, they are fitting perfectly in there.
I knew that your Birgit is so very clever in finding solutions, but the solution for how to hide the light wires in combination with the sloping wall at the attic is a truly genius!! Since I'm also not a fan of electricity and am planning to make the lights myself, this will be a good advice of how to do this chore ever in my miniature farm, so thank you so much for showing this to us, dear Birgit ;).
I love the waves in front of the dividing wall, having the maritime theme in mind. The attic looks great now, it's ready for furnishing, I'm sure it will be gorgeous to see.
The welcome gift for the daughter of Birgit's friend is so lovely and adorable. I like the idea of the numbers of flowers, who together 'write' the date of the birth of the baby, so well invented, never seen before.
We, Schepje and I, wish you a good May too, stay healthy adn take care!
Liebe Grüsse, Ilona

Jaaa!

Hello Fluby, Rosey. and of course Birgit,
Rosey, what a perfect camouflage! and how wonderful it is to see you two once again among the gorgeous blooms.
I love the attic and the way Birgit solved the problems of the lights. The blue waves as decoration on the floor was a brilliant idea, especially the way they are repeated by paint on the door
The Disney dwarfs are stunning, worthy of the special shelves.
Baby Luisa's gift is delightful. A very special, thoughtful gift.
Take care, especially of the Silent Reader. and stay healthy!
Hugs, Drora

Besos.

Hello May, hello Rosey, Fluby and Birgit, what a wonderful garden you have!! With a garden like that there will never be enough photos, that´s for sure. What a coincidence, I am lately addicted of those photos where you have to discover animals hidden in nature in plain sight. It was fun trying to discover Rosey and I am proud that I did it myself with out cheating or looking to Birgit´s help, lol. I took me a while but I did it.

Well, Birgit is making a lot of progress with the house, the lights are spot on and the attic is looking goooood.

Luisa´s welcome gift is adorable and thoughtful, I bet her parents love it.

See you soon dear friends and take care. xxx

Fluby and Rosey are adorable and so happy among the flowers; and Rosey has camouflaged herself well.
The attic is well decorated. The shelves with dwarfs are so cute.
