Es wird fischig / It gets fishy

Hallo,

... as the headline already suggests - today's menu at "BiWuBären on the Blog" is fish! *smile* But we're serving our fish neither fried nor cooked but crafted - in the Beary House. A house with a maritime theme needs for sure a few fishies here and there... for example at boxes which will offer storage space in two shelves which will find a place in the Beary House's living room some day.

These plastic boxes were in the huge parcel with miniatures we've received from Jennifer for Christmas - and by chance they were quite a good match to the shelves' compartments which are reminding of a classic from the Swedish furniture store beginning with an "I" and were also already waiting in Birgit's Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes for their showtime. After this Birgit just had to find matching motifs to be attached to the boxes and she could start.

Jennifer von "Plushpussycat" hat leider das Bloggen aufgegeben, daher kein Link / Sadly Jennifer from "Plushpussycat" gave up blogging, that's why we're adding no link

All four motifs were glued on every box; this way it's possible to choose which motif shall be visible. And this is how it looks like:

In the meantime the first sidewall of the Beary House was finished too.

Birgit says she would really look forward to starting with the second wall... *giggle* And for saving herself the cutting work at the gable Birgit covered it with wood. For this she cut out a pattern from cardboard...

... and by doing this she found out that the sides of this triangle built from the roof are not even. *sigh* The pattern was covered with wood...

... and painted in the same blue which was used at the front part, for example for the window shutters.

And because this would still look boring together with the bricks Birgit had another look into her Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes and found what she had searched for:

The fish are made of embossed paper and the starfish used to be a decorative button which received a bit of paint and looks like this now at the side wall together with the fish:

*grins*
Looks a bit like fish in the water, doesn't it? *grin*

Well, at least it's now less boring than before. And although we have to admit that this is apart from being a realistic decoration for an outer wall of a house, but hey... it's us... since when do we care at all about realism? *LOL* But instead of this we are going to care about more fish for the Beary House - and for this we're going to need this piece.

What will become of this will be a topic in another post... until then all the best for you and don't stop to take good care of yourselves!

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Hallo Fluby, Rosey und Birgit! The boxes for filling in your shelf compartments look really wonderful, but the more to me because they're made in my favorite blue ;O)!!! And I love those maritime motifs.
But oh my, what alot of work for cutting all of those bricks, I can imagine that you'll used something else for the beveling top of the gable. What a disaster that the sides were not equal to each other, but as usually your Birgit has found the best solution there is, she is so clever!! And the added ornaments in maritime style fit perfect to the blue and make the gable a feast for the (fish)eyes ;)!
For the piece of furniture: are you going to make a fish shop for Beary House :O)?? I don't think so, because Fluby and Rosey don't seem to me big fish fans, more strawberry and rose fans hehehehe...
Past week we had very hot temperatures here, which ended up in enormous thunderstorms......for the rest of The Netherlands, again we didn't catch a drop of it :(. But when I see the television with streets under water and lots of damage and problems, I think we had the best part of this change of weather, isn't it? Now it's still hot, clammy and stuffy weather....when will it end for my region.
Have a lovely weekend.
Stay safe, take care for yourselves!
Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona

The boxes are fantastic with those motifs and look perferct in the shelves' compartments.
The first sidewall of the Beach house is precious and so maritime with the decorative fish.
Take care.

Congratulations on finishing the brick facade (on this side at least) and on your fantastic idea for the gable! You have THE BEST stash in existence and the swimming school of fishies is marvelous!! I love the little decorated cubes, too, and now wonder what they would look like as lamp shades with lights behind the art work??? What will become of the little piece? A bench with storage? A fish tank? Whatever your idea is, I KNOW it's going to be inspirational, creative and adorable!!!

Dear Fluby and Rosey and Birgit too, I am glad to see Birgit has finished half her "Brick Marathon"! And I am even happier to learn she is "looking forward" to the other wall!! LOL! It will be worth it in the end! It already looks great and the addition of the silver fishies is lovely.... although my first thought was "Oh Look... Silver Fishy-shaped Clouds on the Sky"! But if you want to call it the water... who am I to argue!!! The "Fish-themed" decor for the shelf cubes is perfect and brilliant and fun! It reminds me of those picture block puzzles from childhood... a different picture on each side that could make a whole picture when arranged correctly... and creative mayhem when not! I cannot imagine what the table will look like when we see it next.... but I am fairly sure some "creative mayhem" will be involved!!! Keep up the Great work! I really look forward to seeing it all come together! :):):) (And any more mention of the Shortening of the days and the approach of certain C-themed topics will give me nightmares!!! LOL!)

Una casita marinera... Me encanta!!!

Dear Birgit,

It has gotten quite fishy indeed. But in a good way! ;-)

I always love to read your posts. The brick facade has turned out great and the acquatic decor is real fun to behold. I can see this house easily standing on the coast near Travemunde or such a place.

I am curious what the piece of furniture for the next post will become. A kitchen worktable perhaps?

The blue you've chosen for the gable reminds me of photos I've seen of the Aegean and especially now that you have the silver fish splashing away in it!
But I also like Betsy's description of them looking like silver fish-shaped clouds way up in the sky. When I was a kid, I used to lie on my back and make pictures from cloud shapes so I imagine that Fluby and Rosie will be doing that too!
Love the fishy panels on the cubes which was Such a Great Idea and now I wonder what you and your beary crew will find to fill them with?????

I love the pieces you have used on the boxes and the colour is perfect. I also really like the way you did the gable of the house - with two layers of wood. The decorative effect is charming. I'm so glad I popped in to say hello! I'm looking forward to seeing the progress. - Marilyn D.

Was werdet ihr hinein geben? Meine Boxen sind randvoll mit Wolle, Stoffen und.....WOLLE! ;0)

Habt einen schönen Sonntag.
