Schon wieder Fisch... / And again... fish

Hallo,

... it's us again... and July is also here by now. The first half of the year is over and I suppose it has been an extraordinary half for all of us. And although the second half has already begun we're continuing now where we stopped the last time: With fish!

And before anyone starts to raise a finger... flutterybearies too know well that whales are no fishies. *grin* But don't worry - we're getting to the fish in a moment. But before that we need to remind you of the mysterious piece of furniture we've shown in our last post.

Well, and this humpback whale is somehow part of the solution... or to be more exact three of them. Together with a piece of driftwood and some wire they were turned into some kind of maritime sculpture.

Now we already have something to place on top of the mysterious piece of furniture... however, it isn't that mysterious at all because it's in fact just a very simple shop counter. Some of you have supposed this quite well. But you know Birgit... she often sees different things in things... and that's why we're able to congratulate Jodi for making the perfect guess: This thing will be turned into a fish tank... or aquarium!

Since some time Birgit had dreamed about having an aquarium in the Beary House... well, that's not surprising for a project with a maritime theme. But to dream this dream was much easier than making it become reality... miniature aquariums for sale are often quite expensive and most of them don't look good. And working for the first time with a 2-component-resin was for sure not the No. 1 on Birgit's to-do-list... So perhaps the dream would have stayed a dream forever if there had not been a publication by Kim Bensdorp in the German miniature magazine "1 zu 12". This Dutch miniaturist (who has no homepage as far as we know) is often published there with projects and tutorials - and this time it was about a water free miniature aquarium. You would not believe how Birgit was looking like while reading this article... all of a sudden she had found the solution for her problem! No handling with chemicals - instead of this just creating the illusion of water... perfect! And although we owe many thanks to Mr. Bensdorp for the inspiration - but the realization is original Birgit style. At least Rosey and I doubt that anybody else than Birgit would ever fill an aquarium with 5 complete and 2 half fish... *grin* And if you should wonder now how THIS shall work... here are the 5 complete fish for a start:

The two big ones are simple fish by Playmobil which got a complete new coat of paint from Birgit... matches with living fish were not intended and would only be pure coincidence. *LOL* Birgit found the three gold fish in her Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes and found out that they were just right for the job. Now only the two half fish were missing... and these come from Preiser, not surprsingly in scale HO (1:87), and look like this:

As I said - two half fishies! *broadgrin* And also two half ladies... who happened to have a date with Birgit's brushes at once.

And after the cutting of a matching base from cardboard the rest was easy going: A bit of structure and caverns with the help of air dry clay, a bit of sand, a few twigs, some green stuff...

... and later on some small stones and shells and in the end a few tiny glass beads. And after arranging this in the right way this is how it looks - one time with blogbearies in the background...

... und nun ohne:
... and now alone:

In the meantime the piece of furniture that should become a fish tank was painted, got a bit of decoration and was closed with an acrylic sheet at the front. After that the decorated ground base came in and at the back wall a matching picture of an original aquarium background (found at pinterest) was atttached - et voilà!

*schmunzel*
Nevertheless it's hard to see what's inside - that's why it came in handy that Birgit also installed two lamps before attaching the back wall! *smile*

Viel besser! *lach*
So much better! *LOL*

And now once more with the humpback whales:

With this we can proudly announce: The Beary House will have an aquarium - and it will be for sure a unique one... because it needs a Birgit to build an aquarium with mermaids in. *LOL* And it needs a flutterybeary to help with the monthly update of the calendars (Wow, this was an impressive topic bridge!)... a flutterybeary which is for sure a gentlebeary from top to toe who likes to help. And a flutterybeary which is as always in need of every single good point in Santa's Golden Book and who starts to panic when thinking that it's less than half a year time now to gain me some. *gulp* For July our wisdom calendar shows a lovely fluttery being and a saying by Carl Hilty. He pointed out that we should pay attention to the small things in the world because this would enrich our lives and make us more satisfied.

*grins*
And I'm not saying this because I'm known for being just about 9 beary centimeters tall and because most of you are miniaturists - but that guy was right! *smile* Btw we followed his advice already and I'm just saying this much: Sweet, red, juicy, aromatic fruits! Hmm... yummy... and hey... I'm NOT talking about strawberries for a change! *grin*

Believe it our not but this was the first time we ever were able to harvest cherries from our tree - the years before the birds have been faster. And we were able to harvest three full big bowls! And we're looking forward to harvest many more red, juicy, aromatic fruits soon and no, I did not forget to mention sweeet, I dropped that for a reason... because our red currants are going to fill a few bowls soon.

So, pay attention to the small things - and have a rich and satisfied July! ;O)

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Wa wa wa... WOW!!! What a spectacular, extraordinary, brilliant, amazing and absolutely stunning aquarium Birgit!!! I have never seen a better one and the mermaids make it all the more realistic to me because I believe in all sorts of myths and cryptids! It really is a work of art, and to be topped by such an incredible whale of a sculpture is magnificent!
Those cherries look delicious and I imagine some birds are cursing their bad luck that you got there first this year!

WOOOOoooooooow!! This is awesome: a true fish tank, a REAL one!!! Have I ever told you that your Birgit is a GENIUS, finding fantastic and creative solutions for her mini issues..? I guess I didd, but this time your Birgit has outdone herself once again, Fluby. The fish tank is awesomely realistic, and absolutely a starring place worthy in the Beary House. The three humpback whales makes the water ballet complete (I do hope Birgit has kitted the fish tank well, so the residents will keep their paws dry ;O)?). The whole looks very stylish, elegant (because of the movement of the three whales, dancing in the water) and still sturdy because of the driftwood. The 'highlight' is that the fish tank got inside lighting, oh my, your Birgit is a true inventor, she can be so proud of herself for achieving this project in an exellent way!! AND I must say the saying on the calendar for July was exactly the bridge for the right saying: "we should pay attention to the small things in the world because this would enrich our lives and make us more satisfied", it's so true! But I also saw that you and Rosey enjoyed the small things in life, by eating a bowl of juicy red cherries, yummmm, delicious!! And being a miniaturist I take that advice to me by paying attention to the small things in life ;O)! Cheers, for more fruits to come out of your tasty, beautiful garden and hopefully there will be strawberries too......;O)!
I remembered that it's 4 years (is that soooo long ago already????) ago that I visited you all, my what a great and warm visit it was!!
My warm regards to the silent reader, I hope she and Birgit are safe and well, take care, dearies.
Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona

WOW!

Dear Fluby & Rosey, You can tell Birgit for me that she is Brilliant!!! The Mermaid (Half-fishy!!) Aquarium is an Awesome Creation!!! I would never ever think that shop counter would become an Aquarium! Even when we are taking a Maritime theme and Birgit's fabulous Imagination.... WOW! I am so impressed!!! The Aquarium sets new standards for Magical Worlds, Novel use of Materials, and Waterless "Trompe l'oeil" Habitats! What a stunning work this is! And I must add that the red and blue hair on the Mermaids is just right!! :)
As for the Time of Year being now closer to that Holiday we won't mention.... I am suffering with this feeling of needing to "Get started" with the "plans" so I can maybe for once be ahead of things.... but then the Summer breezes are wafting in the open Windows, and all I can think of are the little Tiny things that make me very Happy and need Lots of attention!!!! Summer is for Dreaming..... and eating berries! Enjoy your Harvest while you can! :):)

Hello Birgit,

This is briliant! I love how the fishtank has turned out! I would never have guessed it but it is only natural to make one to fit in with the nautical theme of the house!

I do not know what the fishtank of Kim Bensdorp looks like in the 1zu12 magazine, but this one looks very cool and realsitic!

Ohhhh! Me encanta esa escultura de ballenas! ♥
Sabes?

I'm in Total Wonder with my jaw on the floor with Fluby and Rosey's new aquarium complete with corals, fishes and tiny mermaids!!!!
What a BEAUTIFUL undersea landscape project this is Birgit and what a FERTILE IMAGINATION you have to conceive a fish tank from a shop counter- IT'S SIMPLY BRILLIANT!

Wow, that has to be the most stunning fish tank in the whole 1:12 world!! Seriously, Birgit is so clever and talented and creative. I love, love, love it!! It looks so real yet it has a mythological kinda vibe; the mermaids are perfect and all the beautiful creatures and sea plants, AMAZING.
Keep enjoying your summer and your red, sweet and juicy fruits!🍒
