Keine schrägen Sachen!

Hallo,

… today we're indeed able to even visually say "Welcome" to our newest post!

Birgit treated herself with this lovely doormat by Arjen Spinhoven for the Beary House. But she didn't like the corners so she cut them off and was then able to let her brushes work.

A friendly welcome already at the entrance door is for sure a good thing… *smile* Afterwards Birgit concentrated on the next piece… and with this it became "schräg". Well, our German word "schräg" does not only mean slope but we also use it if something, especially someone's behavior, is a bit odd or weird. Anyhow… the shelf of the Beary House's playroom was in fact very slope - not the thing you'd like to have for storing your things. Look:

Not only that the shelves were totally slope (perhaps it would have been possible to change this for better) but the metal beams at the back are slope too. Just compare the highest beam with the one in the middle… This couldn't stay this way - so Birgit made some changes. And these started (surprise!) with a blue coat of paint. But this wasn't all yet - and after Birgit was done the shelf looked like this:

"Keine schrägen Sachen" with my Birgit (as I told you… in German this has a funny double meaning). *grin* Now the books and other stuff which is going to be stored in there will stand very neat and straight up. And of course the new coat of paint fits so much better to the color scheme of the Beary House. Speaking of scheme… Birgit also had a clear scheme when she started another little craft project. It was once more time for a card - because dear neighbors of ours celebrated their silver wedding lately.

If you'd like you can count them - at the front as well as at the inside are exactly 25 flowers. And the saying is by William Sommerset Maugham, he said marriage and wine would have one thing in common - the true value would only show up after years. Btw our neighbor is not only very helpful but also a hobbyist beekeeper. We get all our honey from him - that's why we thought this might be a good opportunity to show once more one of the most extraordinary, wonderful miniatures we own. We've received this treasure as a gift some years ago:

Maybe some might wonder now "Huh... but these are just withered boxes?!" - but many will say now "Wow - these are for sure realistic beehives!" And because these fantastic beehives were made by an exceptional miniaturist - in fact by our dear friend Ilona - these are of course not just boxes.

Yes, even the interior is realistic. And not surprising indeed as it's coming from Ilona it's also possible to take out every single sheet of honeycombs.

You almost get the feeling that you're not only seeing those busy, busy workers but that you're even hearing them...

*summmmmmmmm* Möchte jemand Honig? *lach*
*buzzzzzzzzzzzz* Honey anyone? *LOL*

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

The "welcome" and the shelves makeover is just fantastic. Trust Birgit to find unusual solutions and make items even more beautiful than they were before.
As to the beehive. It's like you said, dear Flutterby, a tiny replica of the r/l hives. Ilona's work is stunning!

You're right the corners of the iron doormat were just a bit too much, well done ;O)!
Love the "schräg" shelf as it was, (like all imperfect things in mini ;O), but the new look in blue and white is better, love it.
I love seeing the card for your neighbors, Birgit always have such nice designs on her cards. I bet they will be very pleased for receiving the good wishes and the card on this special day: Eine tolle Karte zur Silber Hochzeit!!
Ah, I see your beehive is still working after so many years, you've taken good care for the bees in these difficult times ;O)!! And yessss.....I would love to come over for tasting delicious honey :D!!
Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona

I have had the honour of appreciating Birgit card making skills closely. Her cards are such a piece of art. They are the perfect gift. Birgit is such a thoughtful person.
And again she has made a terrific job customising those shelves, they look fantastic, cannot wait to see them in place.
Before I go, let me thank you for showing us Ilona´s beehives, they look so real, yessss I can hear the bees and smell the honey!!

Hello Fluby and Rosey and Birgit too! Now I know why you have a endless supply of delicious honey for honeymilk... You have your own mini bee hives! WOW Ilona's miniatures are always perfect... but more than that she dares to attempt items no-one else would ever try! LOL! A real bee-hive even with the honeycombs in the racks is just amazing!!! (But did she also include a "smoker" for making the bees calm and sleepy? I would not want you to make the bees angry when you harvest the honey!!) :) The furniture Birgit is re-designing (I think this is more than just a make-over!) for the Bearey House is truly inventive! Surely the rack is no longer "schrag", but straight and square and useful as well as handsome and fresh-breezy in appearance! I am looking forward to seeing what will be on those shelves! :) And as always Birgit is so creative with the cards she makes for friends and family! This one is no exception! I hope they enjoy many more years happily together! And I am always eager to see what Birgit is up to next! :):):)

That bee hive has got to be my new favoritest thing ever!

Schragen sachen has been added to my dictionary, thanks! Do you also say nickerchen in your region? I love learning the colloquial phrases.
That bee hive is a truly exceptional miniature, and typical of Ilona's miniature work. Well done on the bookshelf, by the way, now you can add your favorite titles to it.
