Frohe Ostern / Happy Easter

wir wünschen Euch schöne Ostern!
... we're wishing to all of you Happy Easter!

Und auch, wenn wir dieses Ostern anders feiern müssen - machen wir das Beste draus. Wir haben auch ein kleines *hüstel* Ostergeschenk für Euch mitgebracht... also... äh... genau genommen handelt es sich dabei um Folge 93912 unserer *ähem* beliebten Reihe "Und schon wieder jede Menge Bilder von BiWuBären im Garten"... aber Ostergeschenk hört sich doch viel besser an. *grins* So sah es in unserem Garten an Karfreitag aus - und wie Ihr gleich sehen werdet, haben wir auch einige Bekannte getroffen...
And although everything is totally different this Easter - let's try to make the best of it. And we're bringing along a small *coughcough* Easter present for you... well... eh... to be exact this is volume 93912 of our *ehem* beloved series "And once more many pictures of BiWuBearies in the garden"... but Easter present sounds so much better. *grin* This is how our garden was looking at Good Friday -- and you're going to see that we've also met a few familiar ones there...

Aber Birgit hält natürlich nicht nur die Kamera, wenn ihre Blogbärchen im Garten auf Entdeckungstour gehen, sie ist natürlich auch drinnen fleißig am Werkeln. Ich hatte Euch ja schon beim letzten Mal erzählt, dass Birgit sich gerade intensiv mit Fußböden, Wänden und elektrischen Problemen quält - und da braucht sie zwischendurch immer mal wieder etwas, das mehr Spaß macht. Und so kamen nun die Wohnzimmerregale vom Bärchenhaus an die Reihe, Bekanntschaft mit Birgit und ihren Pinseln zu machen. Aus irgendwelchen Gründen, die heute nicht mehr nachvollziehbar sind, war es dazu nämlich bisher nicht gekommen. In anderen Worten - die Regale waren immer noch à la nature und unbemalt - was für ein geplantes Makeover natürlich ein Traum ist. Zur Erinnerung hier noch einmal ein Archivfoto mit den beiden Regalen an der Rückwand...
But Birgit is not only holding the camera when her blogbearies are on a discovery tour in the garden, of course she's also busy crafting along inside of the house. I've already told you the last time that Birgit is intensively struggling with floors, walls and electrical problems at the moment - so she's in need every now and then of something that supposes to be more fun. And so it was time for the shelves of the Beary House's living room to get aquainted with Birgit and her brushes. For some unknown reasons this did not happend so far. Or in other words - the shelves were still à la nature and unpainted - for sure a dream come true when it comes to a makeover. We're showing a picture from the archives for you now with the two shelves at the back wall...

Zunächst hat Birgit die schrägen Dekoleisten entfernt. Die sahen zwar gar nicht sooooo übel aus, aber sie waren leider nicht gegengleich und das fand Birgit für ein Paar nicht so gut. Die kamen also weg und stattdessen zwei von diesen her.
The first thing Birgit did was removing the diagonal decorative beams. Well, they did not look thaaaaat bad, but sadly they weren't opposite and Birgit thought a pair should better match. So these were removed and replaced by two of these. 

Und muss ich eigentlich noch erwähnen, dass diese Ornamente aus Birgits Irgendwann-für-Irgendwas-Kisten stammen? Ich finde es ja immer wieder faszinierend, dass diese für-Irgendwas-Gelegenheiten tatsächlich Irgendwann einmal kommen. *kicher* Die Ornamente wurden eingepasst, die unteren Regale bekamen eine Zierleiste und dann kamen die Pinsel zum Einsatz.

And do I even have to mention at all that these ornaments were found in Birgit's Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes? To me it's always amazing that in the end these For-somewhat occasions really do happen sometime. *giggle* The ornaments were made to fit, a decorative strip was added to the shelves below and then it was time for the brushes.

Ganz zum Schluß wurde das neue Ornament noch mit weißem Transparentpapier hinterklebt - kann man auf dem Foto nicht sehen, aber glaubt mir, es ist da. Muss es auch... denn sonst gäbe es nicht diesen schönen Effekt, wenn man das Ganze beleuchtet:
The last step was backing the ornament with a transparent white paper - not visible in the photo but believe me, it's there. And it really has to be there... otherwise we would not have this nice effect when all of this is illuminated:

Inzwischen sind beide Regale fertig und Birgit kann sich wieder mit ganzer Kraft ihren *hüstel* geliebten Arbeiten an Wand und Boden widmen. Aber natürlich erst nach einem schönen, gemütlichen Osternachmittagskaffeeklatsch, das versteht sich ja wohl von selbst. Wir wünschen Euch ganz viel Spaß bei ein, zwei Tässchen leckerem Osternachmittagskaffee und ein, zwei, drei, vier Stückchen oberleckerem Osternachmittagskuchen. Obwohl... an Ostern darf es alternativ ja auch gerne mal so was sein... *höhö*
In the meantime both shelves are done and Birgit can once more concentrate all her power on her *coughcough* beloved work on walls and floors. But of course not until enjoying a nice, cozy Easterafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" first, that's for sure. We're wishing to all of you later on loads of fun while enjoying one, two cups of tasty Easterafternooncoffee and one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Easterafternooncake. However... at Easter it could also be something in this range for a change... *teehee*

Blumen sind das Lächeln der Erde / Earth laughs in flowers

so, nun ist das erste Quartal des Jahres bereits vorbei und der April ist da. Und was für ein April... wir alle finden uns in einer Situation wieder, die wir uns noch vor ein paar Wochen nicht als Realität vorstellen konnten. Wir hoffen sehr, dass es Euch allen gut geht!
... my, now the first quarter of the year is over already and April is here. And what an April this is... all of us are finding ourselves in a situation we would have not even imagined to become reality just a few weeks ago. We really hope all of you are fine!

Unsere liebe Freundin Drora hat kürzlich in einem ihrer Posts geschrieben, dass ihr im Moment Miniatur-Blumen am meisten Freude bereiten - und das geht unserer Birgit ganz genau so. Das liegt natürlich am Frühling aber wohl auch an diesen besonderen Zeiten, dass man irgendwie das Bedürfnis nach Farbe hat... (Und ganz unter uns *flüster*... in Birgits Fall hat es auch noch etwas damit zu tun dass bei ihr gerade lauter Aufgaben anstehen, die sie nicht gerne macht... Fußböden, Wände, Lichtinstallation... heißt so was in der Psychologie nicht Verdrängung? *grins*) Und nicht nur nach Farbe - wie Ralph Waldo Emerson so schön geschrieben hat: "Blumen sind das Lächeln der Erde". Tja, die Erde und wir können im Moment wohl jedes Lächeln gut gebrauchen... 😊
Our dear friend Drora has recently written in one of her posts that at the moment she would like creating miniature flowers the most - and that's also true for Birgit. Of course this longing for colours has to do with spring but I suppose also with these special times... (And just among us *whisper*... in Birgit's case it has also to do with all the tasks she's having on her to do list which she doesn't like to do... floors, walls, wiring... isn't this called repression in psychology? *grin*) And it's not just the colours - as Ralph Waldo Emerson has written: "Earth laughs in flowers". Well, the earth and us are in need of every smile these days...  😊

Bevor es aber ans Blumenmachen ging, hat Birgit erst einmal eine passende Vase für Betsys wunderschönen Fliederzweig gesucht - und beim Glasbläser Gerd Felka gefunden:

Danach begann dann aber das Blumenbasteln - und die meisten dieser Blumen sind für ein Zukunftsprojekt bestimmt, eine Neugestaltung von Roseys Garten. Kommentar meiner kleinen Schwester: "JUHUUUUUU!!!" Zum besseren Verständnis, warum das notwendig ist, haben wir mal zwei Bilder aus unserem Fotoarchiv rausgesucht.
But after this the flower crafting started - and most of these flowers are dedicated to a future project which is a makeover of Rosey's garden. Comment of my little sis': "YIPPIIIIEEEE!!!" We've searched two pictures from our photo archives to give you a better impression why this is necessary at all.

Zum einen wird Flower Cottage eine größere Grundplatte bekommen, die die gesamte Oberfläche des Regals nutzt. Dadurch ergibt sich insbesondere vor der Fensterfront Platz für zusätzliche Gestaltung... Rosey träumt von einer Gartenbank und natürlich zusätzlichen Blumen. Außerdem ist Roseys Garten sehr symmetrisch was gar nicht beabsichtigt war, sich aber ergeben hat durch das Blumenbeet und vor allem dadurch, dass nicht mehr "Steine" für die Terrasse vorhanden waren. Auch das möchte Birgit bei der Gelegenheit besser machen... und natürlich die vorhandenen Blumen durch neue ergänzen. Da traf es sich gut, dass Birgit einige Bastelpackungen bei Ebe von Moonflowerminigarden gekauft hatte (vielleicht erinnert Ihr Euch - von Ebe ist auch unsere Weihnachtsgans Abby) - begonnen hat sie mit Kosmeen in zwei Pinktönen. Was sonst - wir reden hier schließlich von Roseys Garten... *augenroll*
On the one hand Flower Cottage will get a bigger base which will be using the whole space of the shelf. By this there will be more room for additional touches, especially in front of the windows... Rosey is dreaming of a garden bench and of course of many more flowers. On the other hand Rosey's garden is very symmetrical which wasn't intented at all but just happened because of the flower rabate and even more because of the fact that there weren't more "stones" left for the terrace. Birgit wants to improve this too... and will also add new flowers to the ones that are already there. So it came in handy that Birgit had bought several kits from Ebe of Moonflowerminigarden (maybe you remember - Ebe also made our Christmas goose Abby) - and she started with cosmos in two shades of pink. What else to expect, I mean... we're talking about Rosey's garden... *rolls-his-eyes*

 Die Blumen sind natürlich noch nicht endgültig gepflanzt, die sollen ja später in Roseys Garten. Und sie sind auch noch nicht endgültig in Form - bis auf die rechts im Bild in der weißen Schale. Die Kosmeen-Bastelsets waren klasse, ganz einfach und schnell zu machen. Danach hat Birgit sich an etwas Schwierigeres gewagt: Fingerhut. Die Bastelpackung beinhaltet zweifarbige Blütenblätter in 3 verschiedenen Größen, von denen jedes zu einer kleinen Tüte gerollt werden muss. Schaut mal, wir zeigen Euch hier die verschieden großen Blätter sowie eine "Beispieltüte" in mittlerer Größe (und Ihr seht auch schon die Einzelteile der Stiefmütterchen, zu denen wir etwas später kommen).
Of course the flowers are not finally planted because they are meant to go into Rosey's garden later. And they're not finally shaped - except for those in the white bowl at the right side of the picture. The cosmos kits were terrific, very easy and fast to make. After this Birgit took the courage to start something more difficult: Foxgloves. This kit contains two-side-coloured petals in three different sizes and each of them needs to be rolled into a tiny cone. Have a look, we're showing you the different sized petals and an example cone of medium size (and you can already see the single parts of the pansies we're going to show a little later).

Und laut Anleitung sollen für eine Fingerhutblüte 105 solcher Einzelblütentüten verwendet werden. Holla - das gab klebrige Finger! *lach* Aber es kam was dabei raus:
And according to the instructions each foxglove shall be made of 105 single petal cones. Oh my - this meant sticky fingers for sure! *LOL* But it lead to a result:

Nach weiteren 105 Blüten ist inzwischen auch der zweite Fingerhut fertig - und weil Birgit inzwischen mehr Übung hat, ist hier die Form auch besser gelungen.
And after once more 105 petals the second foxglove is also finished now - and because Birgit had enough practice by now its shape is also better.

Birgit hat noch eine Bastelpackung für noch zwei Fingerhutblüten, sie geht aber davon aus, dass sie wegen großzügiger Blattzugaben auch noch eine 5. machen kann. Bis dahin wartet Birgit auch mit dem Anmalen der Blütenspitze, damit alle Blüten gleichmäßig gefärbt werden. Rosey jedenfalls freut sich schon riesig, dass sie eine prächtige Fingerhutstaude in ihrem Garten haben wird. Und nicht nur die... es werden auch noch zwei Schwertlilien (Iris barbata) dort blühen. Eine davon ist schon fertig:
Birgit still has another kit for yet two more foxgloves but she thinks she will be able to make 5 flowers due to generous additional petals. Until then Birgit waits with painting the flower tips to make sure all flowers will get the same colour. Rosey is of course already over the moon because she will have a terrific foxglove plant in her garden. And not only this... there will also bloom two iris (iris barbata). One of them is already finished:

Auch dieser Bausatz hat Birgit begeistert - wenn man schon ein bisschen Übung mit Miniaturblumen hat, sind die nach der Anleitung ganz schnell gemacht.
Birgit was also excited about this kit - with a little experience in making miniature flowers these are easy to make by following the instructions.

Das galt auch für die 3. Iris im Bunde - die nicht für Roseys Garten bestimmt war, sondern für das Bärchenhaus. Iris gehören zu Birgits Lieblingsblumen und so konnte sie nicht widerstehen, eine große Vase aus ihren Irgendwann-für-Irgendwas-Kisten mit blauen Iris zu füllen. Das hier ist die Vase:
And this was also true about the third iris in the row - which was not meant to go into Rosey's garden but was dedicated for the Beary House. Iris are among Birgit's favourite flowers so she could not resist the idea to fill a big vase from her Sometime-for-somewhat-boxes with blue iris. This is the vase:

Die ist aus echtem Holz gedrechselt, deshalb hat Birgit beschlossen, sie so zu lassen, wie sie ist. Nicht unbedingt realistisch, so eine Vase aus Holz... aber es wäre wirklich schade um die schöne Maserung gewesen.
This was made from real wood that's why Birgit decided to leave it as it is. Of course not very realistic, a vase made of wood... but it would have been a pity to cover the wood grain.

Glaubt uns, wir haben nun ein Glas mit Wasser in die Vase gestellt... *kicher*

Und Birgit hat noch eine weitere Pflanze für das Bärchenhaus gebastelt - eine Palme. Das sind die Bestandteile, die man erhält:

Damit kann man auch als Anfänger ein tolles Ergebnis erzielen. Birgit hat allerdings den Blättern noch eine sanfte Farbtönung verpasst - und die Spitzen etwas *ähöm* realistischer gestaltet. *grins* Auf dem Foto seht Ihr das Originalblatt in der Mitte, die beiden außen haben bereits Bekanntschaft mit Birgit gemacht.
With this even beginners would be able to get a fantastic result. But Birgit still added a bit of shading to the leaves - and the tips got a more *ahem* realistic look. *grin* At the photo you can see the original leaf in the middle while the other ones got acquainted with Birgit.

Dann wurde ein passender Topf gesucht, der ursprünglich braun war...

... aber einen weißen Anstrich bekam und außerdem ein paar maritime Zierelemente (aus Knöpfen), denn die Palme soll ja ins Bärchenhaus.
... which got a coat of paint in white and on top some maritime decorative elements (made of buttons) because the palm is meant to go into the Beary House.

Und nun kommen wir zu den Stiefmütterchen, deren Bestandteile wir ja schon vorher gezeigt haben. So sehen die aus, wenn sie fertig sind... mit ein klein wenig Birgit-Touch.
And now we're coming to the pansies, we've already shown their single parts a few pictures ago. This is how they're looking when finished... and after a bit of Birgit touch.

Stiefmütterchen hat Birgit auch gebraucht für ein weiteres Teil, das für Roseys Garten bestimmt ist. Schaut mal, diese drei Koffer auf Beinen hat Birgit letztes Jahr von der stillen Blogleserin zum Geburtstag bekommen.
Birgit also needed pansies for another piece being meant to go into Rosey's garden. Have a look, Birgit received these three suitcases on legs from the silent blog reader for last year's birthday.

Die Farben geben schon einen Hinweis, wofür die bestimmt sind - der blaue Koffer geht natürlich ins Bärchenhaus, der pinkfarbene nach Flower Cottage und der rote nach Strawberry Cottage... äh... oh... Birgit ruft gerade aus dem Hintergrund, dass der fürs Weihnachtshaus bestimmt ist und dass ich mich bitte daran erinnern solle, dass ich ja bereits glücklicher Besitzer des Koffergartens bin, den Sans! extra für mich gemacht hat. (Leider konnten wir ihren Blog nicht mehr anklicken - schon schade, wie viele Blogger inzwischen aufgehört haben).
The colors already give a hint what their destination will be - the blue suitcase will go of course into the Beary House, the pink one is meant for Flower Cottage and the red one for Strawberry Cottage... eh... oh... Birgit is just calling from the background that this one is meant to go into the Christmas House and that I should start to remember that I'm already the happy owner of the suitcase garden which Sans! had made just for me. (Sorry, but we could not get access to her blog anymore - it's sad how many bloggers left blogland over the years)

Phhh... da ist das letzte Wort aber noch nicht gesprochen. *höhö* Jedenfalls hat Rosey nun ihren eigenen Koffergarten bekommen...
Phhhhhh... this will not be the last word spoken in the matter of the red suitcase. *teehee* Anyhow, Rosey has now received her own suitcase garden...

... aber natürlich nicht, ohne vorher noch das April-Kalenderblatt zu zeigen. Selbstverständlich habe ich auch diesen Monat meiner Birgit beim Umstellen ihrer vielen Kalender geholfen - Ihr wisst ja, Gentlebär von Kopf bis Fuß (und dieser Gentlebär will jetzt unbedingt auch so einen schicken Koffergarten auf Beinen... allerdings darf der gerne anders bepflanzt sein... mit Pflanzen, die süße, rote, saftige, aromatische Früchte tragen zum Beispiel... ach ja... Erdbeeren... äh... wo war ich... ach ja... Kalender...). Für den April zeigt unser Sprüchekalender wie immer ein schönes Bild und diesmal ein Zitat von Theodor Fontane: "Wenn man glücklich ist, soll man nicht noch glücklicher sein wollen."
... but not without showing the calendar picture for April. Of course I've helped my Birgit once more this month with the update of her many calendars - you know me, I'm a gentlebeary from top to toe (and this gentlebeary really wants to have such a fantastic suitcase garden on legs too... however mine should be planted differently... with plants carrying sweet, red, juicy, aromatic fruits for example... oh my... strawberries... eh... where was I... oh yes... calendar...). For April our wisdom calendar is showing another nice picture and this month's saying is by Theodor Fontane who pointed out that if one was happy he or she should not intent to become even happier. 

Ja, da kann ich nur zustimmen, Zufriedenheit und Dankbarkeit, für das was man hat, sind wirklich wichtig zum Glücklichsein. Seien wir also zufrieden, dankbar und glücklich darüber, dass wir noch gesund sind und dass Ihr Euer Hobby habt, mit dem Ihr diese besonderen Zeiten wenigstens für eine Weile vergessen könnt. Passt gut auf Euch auf!
Yes, I can really agree with that, satisfaction and gratitude for what we have are for sure important for happiness. So let's be satisfied, thankful and happy about being healthy still and that all of you are lucky to have a hobby that helps to forget about these special times at least for a while. Take good care of yourselves!
