2. Advent / Advent 2nd

 Hallo,

so, nun ist es passiert... heute ist schon der 2. Advent und damit die Weihnachtssaison voll in Gange. Was man auch daran merkt, dass ich nun dieses Fest, dessen Name ansonsten nicht genannt werden darf, tatsächlich beim Namen nennen darf. *lach* Und natürlich ist es auch die Zeit, mal wieder aus einer Tasse heraus daran zu erinnern, dass ein schöner Adventssonntagskaffeeklatsch immer ein gute Idee ist. Eine gute Idee wäre es auch, beim Lesen dieses Posts einen Pott Kaffee oder Tee zur Hand zu haben... *schmunzel*

... and it happened again... today it's already Advent 2nd which means that Christmas season is really here. You can even notice it because I am now allowed to call this special holiday which shall usually not be named in fact by its name. *LOL* And of course it is also the time to remember once more out of a cup that a nice Adventsunday-"Kaffeeklatsch" is always a good idea. And it would also be a good idea to have a mug filled with coffee or tea at hand while reading this post... *smile*

Hier bei uns beginnt die Weihnachtszeit ja aber eigentlich immer dann, wenn Birgit irgendwann im November das erste Mal laut stöhnt: "Ich habe einfach zu viel Weihnachtsgedönse!!!" *grins* Aber ich darf bekannt geben, dass sie es auch dieses Jahr geschafft hat, Ihr Weihnachtsgedönse bis zum 1. Advent an den richtigen Platz zu stellen oder zu hängen. Das gilt natürlich auch für mein Zuhause, das sich pünktlich zum 1. Advent wieder in Christmas Cottage verwandelt hatte.

At our place Christmas time starts in fact whenever in November Birgit is groaning for the first time "I have indeed much too much Christmas stuff!!!" *grin* But I am able to announce that this year she managed once more to put or hang everything at its right place in time for Advent 1st. This is of course also true for my own home which changed into Christmas Cottage in time for Advent 1st. 

Und lieber Besuch ist auch schon eingetroffen - unsere Freundin Abigail Gabble wird wieder die Weihnachtszeit mit uns verbringen. Eingetroffen sind auch bereits die ersten Weihnachtspäckchen... von Jodi, Ilona und Drora. Vielen Dank noch mal auch von dieser Stelle aus! Und wie nicht anders zu erwarten, musste ich mir daraufhin auch schon das erste Mal Birgits wohlbekannten Vortrag zum Thema "Alles hat seine Zeit und die Zeit für Weihnachtsgeschenke ist an Heiligabend" anhören... *blablabla*... (Oje... oops... lieber Weihnachtsmann, ich habe keine Ahnung wie das jetzt in den Text gekommen ist... was ich sagen wollte war "Sie hat ja sooooo Recht" und... oh nein... Rosey sagte gerade dass Lügen sogar noch schlimmer wäre als frech zu sein... ich bin verloren... und ich sollte besser fortfahren, vielleicht kann ich mir dadurch noch ein paar dringend benötigte Pluspunkte im Goldenen Buch des Weihnachtsmannes verdienen...) Und weil alles seine Zeit hat, ist heute auch die Zeit für ein kleines Adventsmärchen. Also her mit dem Märchenbuch und los geht's:

And even a sweet visitor has arrived in the meantime - our friend Abigail Gabble will spend Christmas time once more with us. And speaking of arrivals - the first Christmas packages arrived already coming from Jodi, Ilona and Drora. Once more many thanks also from this place! And as you would expect I then had to listen for the first time to Birgit's wellknown lecture about "Everything has its own time and the time for Christmas gifts is Christmas Eve"... *blablabla*... (Oh my.. oops... dear Santa, I have no idea how this got into the text... I wanted to say "she's soooo right about that" and... oh no... Rosey just said that lying would be even worse than being naughty... I'm doomed... and I should better continue, maybe this might gain me a few more very needed good points in Santa's Golden Book...) And because everything has it's own time it's time today for a little Advent tale. So let's take the fairytale book and here we go:

Es war einmal ein alter Küchentisch... der musste durch einen neuen ersetzt werden, weil seine Beine zu dünn für die große und dicke Tischplatte waren und der Tisch dadurch sehr wacklig war. Aber der alte, wacklige Küchentisch kam nicht auf den Müll...  doch seine Beine wurden abgeschraubt und die Tischplatte wurde monatelang in einer dunklen Ecke abgestellt und erst einmal vergessen. Aber jedes Jahr im November erinnerte man sich an den alten Küchentisch... dann wurde die Tischplatte aus der Ecke geholt, die Beine wurden wieder angeschraubt und er bekam einen Ehrenplatz im Wohnzimmer.

Once upon a time there was an old kitchen table... which needed to be replaced by a new one because its legs were too thin for the big and thick table's plate making the table very wobbly. But the old wobbly kitchen table wasn't thrown to the garbage... but its legs were screwed off and the plate was placed over months in a dark corner and was soon forgotten. But every year in November the old kitchen table was remembered... the plate was taken out of the corner, the legs were screwed on again and it received a place of honor in the living room.

Und wenn dann ein großes weißes Stück Samtstoff aus einer Schublade geholt und über den alten Küchentisch gebreitet wurde, geschah jedes Jahr auf's Neue etwas Magisches: Der alte Küchentisch verwandelte sich in einen Marktplatz und der Stoff in eine Schneelandschaft.

Next a big white piece of velvet fabric was fetched out of a drawer and was placed over the old kitchen table and then every year again something magical happened: The old kitchen table transformed into a market place and the fabric changed into a snowy landscape.

Und dann kamen nach und nach die Buden... als Erstes die Glashütte.

And next to come were the booths... the first was the "Glashütte" (= glass booth).

Dann die Weihnachtsbäckerei,

The next one was the "Weihnachtsbäckerei" (= Christmas Bakery),

der Zuckerbäcker,

die Erzgebirgische Holzkunst,

... zusammen mit dem Karren mit der Weihnachtsdeko.

Auch die magische Welt schickt einen Verkaufskarren... 

And the magical world too is sending a sales cart...

... und es darf auch nicht der Hinweis fehlen, was der Anlass für all das ist.

... and of course we can't miss a reminder what's the reason for all of this.

Fehlt nur noch ein Portal...

... das noch besser aussieht mit zwei Blogbärchen und deren Nussknackerpendants.

Und damit die Besucher es schön haben, braucht es noch ein paar Tische, noch mehr Deko und natürlich den großen Weihnachtsmarktchristbaum.

And to make sure that the visitors will enjoy themselves it still takes a few tables, more decoration and of course the big Christmas Market tree.

Und weil dies ja die Geschichte von einem alten Küchentisch ist, sollen heute auch die einen Ehrenauftritt haben, die sonst immer nur im Hintergrund zu sehen ist. Verdient haben sie diese Ehre allemal, denn ohne sie wäre der BiWuBären-Weihnachtsmarkt nicht möglich: Unsere Verkäuferbären!

And because this is the tale of an old kitchen table we would also like to give credits to those who are usually only visible in the background. But they really deserve this special honour because without them the BiWuBear Christmas Market would not be possible: Our sales bears!

Unser legendärer Teddy stammt von Hermann Teddy Original, die vier anderen Verkäuferbärchen von Steiff. Und der kleine Kerl vorne... nun, eine so prominente Herkunft wie die anderen hat er nicht und wir legen auch wie immer Wert darauf, dass er KEIN BiWuBärchen ist. Langjährige Leser wissen nun, um wen es sich handelt. Schaut ihn Euch also gut an, wer weiß, ob man sein Gesicht noch mal zu sehen bekommt... *grins* Ganz links mit der rot gestreiften Mütze steht übrigens der Verkäuferbär von der Erzgebirgsbude. Wir haben keinen Zweifel, dass er auch in diesem Jahr seiner schwierigsten *ähem* Kundin extra einen Stuhl hinstellen wird. Und er hat uns erzählt, dass er es dieses Jahr mit einer Sortimentserweiterung versuchen will in der Hoffnung, dass Sabienchen spontan für die Neuheiten ihr Geld ausgibt. Äh, wie war das noch mit der Büchse der Pandora ??? Aber egal, es ist eine sehr schöne Sortimentserweiterung für den Erzgebirgsstand und tatsächlich ein sehr traditioneller Weihnachtsschmuck: Lichterengel! Ausgangspunkt war eine Figur von Nalladris - den Rohling seht Ihr in der Mitte und an den Seiten, was Birgit daraus gemacht hat:

And the little guy in front... well, he has no such prominent origin as the others and as always we really need to point out that he is NO BiWuBeary. Our longtime readers will know by now who he is. You should have a good look at him because who can tell if we will ever be able to see his face again... *grin* Btw at the left with the red striped hat is the sales bear of the "Erzgebirgische Holzkunst". We have no doubt that this year too he will place an extra chair for his most difficult *ehem* customer. And he told us that this year he is going to offer new goods hoping that this might cause Sabienchen to spontaneously spend her money for the new arrivals. Eh, what was this thing about Pandora's box??? But anyhow, it's really a very lovely addition to the offer at the Wood Art booth and it's in fact a very traditional Christmas decoration: Light Angels! The origin was a figurine by Nalladris - you can see a raw one in the middle and at the sides what Birgit made out of them:

Und schon gibt es die nächste Geschichte: Auch der Lichterengel hat wie so viele andere Weihnachtdekorationen seinen Ursprung im Erzgebirge. Die Menschen dort bauten Erz ab und waren trotzdem bitterarm, weshalb sie sich Geld dazu verdienten durch Holz- und Klöppelarbeiten. Die traditionellen Holzarbeiten aus dem Erzgebirge sind geprägt von tiefem christlichen Glauben und dem Bergbau. Die Sehnsucht nach Licht ist oft ein Erklärungsansatz für die Entstehung der Holzdekorationen, so sagt eine Legende, ein Schwibbogen repräsentiere den Ausgang des Bergstollens, also das Licht am Ende des Tunnels. Die Lichterengel nun wurden in die Fenster gestellt, um den männlichen Familienmitgliedern, die im Bergbau einen harten und gefährlichen Job machten, den Weg nach Hause zu weisen. Dabei wurden die Lichterengel den Kindern zu Weihnachten geschenkt, die Mädchen bekamen einen weiblichen Lichterengel (der übrigens aus gutem Grund meist eine Schürze trägt - er verweist auf das traditionelle Frauenbild mit der Frau als Engel im Haus) und die Jungs einen männlichen Lichterengel in Gestalt eines Bergmannes. Auf diesen Schwibbögen von Volker Arnold könnt Ihr beide Versionen sehen:

And now it's time for another tale: Like so many other Christmas decorations the Light Angels have their origin in the Ore Mountains (a region in Saxony which is by now somehow also a trademark for high quality wood art for Christmas). The people there were digging for ore but were still very poor that's why they tried to earn some extra money with wood art and bobbin lace. The traditional wood art from the Ore Mountains is influenced by a deep Christian faith and of course mining. The longing for light is often an explanation used for the origin of the wooden decorations, one legend says a "Schwibbogen" represents the entrance of the mining tunnel or in other words the light at the end of the tunnel. Light Angels were placed in the windows to lead the male family members after their hard and dangerous job in the mines on their way back home. The Light Angels were gifts for the children at Christmas, the girls got the female version of a Light Angel (which is often wearing an apron for a reason - it refers to the traditional female role with the woman being the angel of the house) and boys received a male Light Angel in the shape of a miner. These "Schwibbögen" made by Volker Arnold show both versions:

Lichterengel finden sich tatsächlich oft als Motive in der Erzgebirgischen Holzkunst wieder, ähnlich auch wie die Kirche aus Seiffen. So, das war das... was war noch... hmm... ach ja: Ihr habt Euch eben doch bestimmt gefragt, warum da so viel freier Platz auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt vor Teddys Bude war... und warum Toyland doch wieder rechts unten steht, obwohl Birgit da doch andere Pläne hatte. Nun, Pläne sind manchmal da, um geändert zu werden... Rosey und ich vermuten, Birgit wollte doch lieber von vorne auf den neuen Verkaufskarren schauen. *schmunzel* Und warum wir das glauben, müssen wir Euch ja auch noch zeigen, denn Ihr wollt doch bestimmt wissen, wie es mit dem Verkaufskarren weiter gegangen ist, oder?! Zur Erinnerung - das war das letzte Foto, das wir von ihm gezeigt haben:

Light Angels are in fact common motifs in the Wood Art from the Ore Mountains like for eample the church of Seiffen (somehow the capital city for wood art from the Ore Mountains). Okay, this was that... what is still on our list... hmm... oh yes: We suppose you've been wondering about all this free space at our Christmas Market in front of Teddy's Booth... and why Toyland can be found once more at the bottom of the right side although Birgit had other plans. Well, plans are sometimes meant to be changed... Rosey and I suppose Birgit prefers in fact to look at the sales cart's front. *smile* And we still need to show you why we have this opinion now and we guess you would like to know what happened to the sales cart in the meantime, wouldn't you? And as a little reminder - this was the last photo we've shown of it:

Höchste Zeit für Deko... gerne lecker und köstlich. *höhö* Übrigens wird bis auf wenige Ausnahmen keine Köstlichkeit aus Fimo gemacht sein... wie die Leckereien entstanden sind, haben wir vor langer Zeit gezeigt. Wer sich erinnern möchte... bitte schön:

Die Bonbons gehören übrigens zu den wenigen Dingen, die Birgit aus Fimo gemacht hat. Hier in der Schüssel könnt Ihr die noch mal besser sehen:

And even more delicious treats! (And believe me - I wish I had an Euro for every time Birgit told me "Fluby, paws away! Remember - Santa sees everything!" *sigh*)

Für die Lebkuchenpralinen hat Birgit ein Display genutzt, das eigentlich für die Küche vom Weihnachtshaus gedacht war. Aber es war bereits fertig bemalt und passte einfach perfekt, deshalb "Tschüß, Weihnachtsküche! Hallo Weihnachtsmarkt!"

For the gingerbread bits Birgit has used a display which was originally dedicated for the kitchen of the Christmas House. But as it was already painted and matching in a perfect way it was time to say: "Byebye Christmas kitchen! Hello Christmas Market!"

Ebenfalls in Birgits Irgendwann-für-Irgendwas-Boxen fand sich ein kleines Regal. Im ersten Versuch sah das so aus:

Also in Birgit's Sometime-for-Somewhat-boxes was a small shelf waiting for showtime. After a first try it looked like this:

Doch dann stellte sich heraus, dass die Gläser, die dafür vorgesehen waren, nicht passten wegen der Holzornamente. Zeit für Versuch Nr. 2...

But then it appeared that the jars which were meant to be displayed on it did not fit because of the wooden ornaments. Time for attempt No. 2...

Die Gläser in der unteren Reihe sind übrigens gefüllt mit Resten von weihnachtlichen Diamond Painting-Arbeiten der stillen Blogleserin. Sie hatte so viel Spaß mit dieser Basteltechnik... und wir wissen ganz genau, dass sie begeistert wäre, was Birgit aus diesem Karren gemacht hat... ihr erinnert Euch... das letzte Geschenk, dass die stille Blogleserin ihrer Tochter je machen durfte... schnell weiter... und zwar mit einem weiteren Fund aus Birgits Irgendwann-für-Irgendwas-Kisten:

She had so much fun with this kind of craft work... and we know for sure she would absolutely love what Birgit created with this cart kit... you may remember... it is the last gift the silent blogreader could ever give to her daughter... let's better continue... with another find in Birgit's Sometime-for-Somewhat-boxes:

Man sieht es auf dem Foto nicht so gut aber die Lollies haben tatsächlich die Form eines ikonischen Mäusekopfs... *grins* Und wenn Ihr Euch nun fragen solltet, wo Birgit mit all diesen Dingen abgeblieben ist... hier ist die Antwort:

Und nachdem uns aufgefallen war, dass da ein Lebkuchenherz während des Fototshootings überhaupt nicht kooperativ war...

Und nun... glaubt es oder glaubt es nicht... jetzt sind wir am Ende dieses Posts angekommen. *grins* Wir hoffen, Kaffee oder Tee waren ausreichend... ansonsten... Ihr wisst ja... heute ist 2. Advent und da ist ein schöner Adventssonntagsnachmittagskaffeeklatsch immer ein gute Idee, so mit ein, zwei Tässchen leckerem Adventssonntagsnachmittagskaffee und ein, zwei, drei, vier Stückchen oberleckerem Adventssonntagsnachmittagskuchen. Und wisst Ihr, was noch eine gute Idee ist? Wenn ein Flatterbärchen, das noch jede Menge Pluspunkte im Goldenen Buch gebrauchen kann, sich ein paar verdient durch Hilfestellung bei Birgits monatlichem Kalenderupdate. Denn mal ehrlich... Ihr glaubt doch wohl nicht, dass ich ausgerechnet im Dezember aufhöre, ein Gentlebär zu sein, oder? *zwinker* Und mein Schwesterlein hat ja inzwischen auch begriffen, wie leicht man sich ein paar Pluspunkte auf diese Weise verdienen kann. *grins*

And now... believe it or not... we've reached the end of this post. *grin* We hope coffee or tea were enough... otherwise... you know... today is Advent 2nd and this means a lovely Adventsundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" would be a really good idea, with one, two cups of tasty Adventsundayafternooncoffee and one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Adventsundayafternooncake. And do you know what else would be a good idea? If a flutterybeary who is still in need of many, many good points in the Golden Book would earn himself some by helping Birgit with her monthly calendar update. Tell the truth... you would not expect me to stop being a gentlebeary in December, wouldn't you? *wink* And my little sis' too learnt by now how easy it is to earn some good points this way. *grin*
