Und alles ganz ohne Rumpelstilzchen!

Hallo,

zunächst einmal soll ich mich in Birgits Namen ganz herzlich für Eure lieben Genesungswünsche bedanken... Es hat geholfen - Birgit, ihrer Nase und ihrem Rachen geht es wieder besser! ;O) Und nun wollen wir uns mal wieder dem Bau von Gerties Altersruhesitz zuwenden! Mal ehrlich... Birgit hat mit Begeisterung so viele magische Möbel erschaffen - aber nun konnte sie sich wirklich nicht mehr länger um den Innenausbau drücken. *grins*
... first thing I shall say thanks in Birgit's name for your kind wishes for better health... It worked somehow - Birgit, her nose and her throat are feeling better! ;O) And now let's get back to the building of Gertie's retirement home! Honestly... Birgit created many magical pieces of furniture with loads of enthusiasm - but now she couldn't run away any longer from facing the work on the interior. *grin*

Ihr erinnert Euch hoffentlich - die Innenwände wurden ja bereits bemalt bzw. mit einer Felsschicht überzogen. Allerdings wollte Birgit gerne noch eine Wandvertäfelung dort anbringen, wo die Wände bemalt sind. Nun ist so was in Birgits Fall leichter gesagt als getan... denn Birgit und Holz geht bekanntermaßen wegen ihrer angegriffenen Arme nicht zusammen. Und so hat Birgit sich dann eine Alternative ausgedacht, die selbst mich überrascht hat: Sie hat Stroh genommen!
Hopefully you'll remember - the inner walls were already painted or covered with rocks. But Birgit still intended to add a wall paneling on the painted walls. But speaking of Birgit this is easier said than done... because Birgit and wood are known for not matching due to her arm problems. And so Birgit came up with an alternative that was a surprise even for me: She used straw!
          

            

Ja, Ihr habt richtig gelesen... und nein, ich habe mich nicht verschrieben - Birgit hat wirklich Stroh genommen! Und zwar die Art aufgebügeltes Stroh, aus dem man zu Weihnachten Strohsterne bastelt.
Yes, you've read correctly... and no, I didn't make any typo - Birgit used straw indeed! The kind of ironed straw you take for crafting straw stars for Christmas.
            

         

Hmm... Stroh zu Gold, das kennen wir ja aus dem Märchen vom Rumpelstilzchen. Aber Stroh zu Holz... das konnte ich mir gar nicht vorstellen. Birgit aber konnte - und so hat sie das Stroh auf ein Stück dünne Pappe aufgeklebt, angemalt und an der Wand befestigt. Das sah dann so aus...

Hmm... straw into gold, we all know about that business from the fairytale of Rumpelstiltskin. But straw into wood... I could hardly imagine that. But Birgit could - and so she glued the straw on a piece of thin cardboard, painted it and attached it to the wall. And then it looked like this...
            

        

... schon irgendwie wie eine rustikale Holzvertäfelung, echt verblüffend. Birgit lässt übrigens ausrichten, wenn sie könnte, würde sie in jedem Fall Holz verwenden. Aber das Stroh hat seinen Zweck erfüllt, meint sie, es ist billig und lässt sich sehr leicht zuschneiden. Jedenfalls hat Gertie nun eine Wandvertäfelung aus Stroh - hat auch nicht jeder! *lach* Für den Fußboden hat Birgit dann aber doch Holz genommen - zum ersten Mal! Sie hat nämlich in der Zwischenzeit einen Händler gefunden, der speziell für Puppenhäuser ganz dünnes Holzfurnier anbietet, das sich einfach mit der Schere zuschneiden lässt.

But the straw made quite a good job she said, it's cheap and easy to cut. And now Gertie has a wall paneling made of straw - not a thing shared by many other people! *LOL* But for the floor Birgit has taken real wood - for the very first time! She was lucky to find a provider in the meantime offering thin stripes of wood especially for dollhouses which can be easily cut with a pair of scissors.
         

                

Und so hat Birgit dann zum ersten Mal einen Holzfußboden verlegt...

... der bekam dann noch einen Anstrich verpasst (zum Vergleich seht Ihr die Originalstreifen)...

Leider hat Birgit inzwischen feststellen müssen, dass es besser gewesen wäre, die Bodenplatte vorher zu grundieren - wenn man den Fußboden mit Blitzlicht fotografiert, sind da leider einige helle Spalten zu sehen... *seufz* Tja, man lernt nie aus... beim nächsten Mal weiß sie es besser, sagt Birgit... Und ich finde, das ist die richtige Einstellung - außerdem sieht der Boden ja gut aus, so lange man ohne Blitzlicht fotografiert. *grins*
In the meantime Birgit had to find out it would have been better to paint the base first - if you're taking pictures of the floor with flashlight there are some light gaps showing up... *sigh* Well, you live, you learn... next time she knows better says Birgit... And I think that's the right spirit - besides the floor is looking good as long as you don't use flashlight while taking pictures. *sigh*

Nachdem nun der Fußboden und die Wandvertäfelung fertig sind, fehlen nur noch ein paar Kleinigkeiten... und die weitere Gestaltung der Felswände. Aber das zeigen wir Euch ein anderes Mal, heute möchte ich Euch noch ein paar andere Werkeleien von Birgit zeigen. Unsere langjährigen Leser wissen ja, dass die beiden Hexentürme auch das Zuhause vieler winzig kleiner Elfen sind - und natürlich muss es auch in Gerties Zuhause Wohngelegenheiten für Elfen geben. Dafür hat Birgit sich wieder etwas Besonderes ausgedacht - sie hat einen Bausatz von Petite Properties genommen, einen Taubenschlag im Maßstab 1:24. Ein bisschen Birgit-Touch später und mit Hilfe von Kübeln und zwei Playmobilstäben sah das dann so aus:
Now that the floor and the wall paneling are done there are only a few more details missing... and the additional decoration of the rock walls. But this we're going to show to you another time, today I would like to show you some other work made by Birgit. Our longtime readers already know that the Witch Towers are also the home of many tiny elves - and of course in Gertie's home there needs to be room for elves too. Birgit came up with something very special - she took a kit of Petite Properties for a dovecote in scale 1:24. A little bit of Birgit touch later and with the help of pots and sticks from Playmobil it looked like this:
          

          

Wie Ihr seht, hat Birgit gleich zwei davon gemacht, der mit den Terrakotta-Amphoren ist für Gertie bestimmt, der andere mit dem Playmobil-Plastikkübel (der natürlich genau wie die Stäbe bemalt und "bemoost" wurde) war für Birgits Etsy-Shop gedacht - und wurde bereits verkauft. Aber weiter im Text - der Stab wurde mit Efeu begrünt, eine Zierkugel wurde eingefügt und die Amphoren wurden gealtert...
As you can see Birgit made two in one setting, the one with the terracotta amphoras is dedicated to Gertie, the other one with the plastic pot by Playmobil (which of course was like the sticks painted and covered with "moss") should go into Birgit's etsy shop - and it was already sold. But on we go - the stick was covered with ivy, a bulb was added and the amphoras were aged...
           

         

Jetzt fehlte nur noch die Kübelbepflanzung...

Und nun möchte ich Euch noch Jemanden vorstellen, den Birgit im Auftrag einer Kundin erschaffen hat. Diese Kundin besaß bereits einige von Birgits Babydrachen und wünschte sich nun einen etwas größeren Drachen von Birgit, der einen Würfel halten sollte. Birgit hatte noch nie so eine große Figur modelliert, aber sie hat es einfach mal probiert und es ist am Ende tatsächlich ein Drache geworden, der - wie sollte es anders sein - den Namen Dice erhalten hat.
And now I would like to introduce you to someone Birgit has created as a custom order. This customer already owned some of Birgit's baby dragons and asked for a dragon being way bigger and holding a dice. Birgit had never created such a big figurine before but she just tried and in the end it actually became a dragon which was named - surprise - Dice.

Ein echter Riese, der Dice... und weil er ein Weihnachtsgeschenk für den Sohn von Birgits Kundin sein soll, den er zukünftig als Maskottchen zu Spieleabenden begleiten soll, habe ich Dice vor seiner Abreise noch ein paar Benimmregeln beigebracht von wegen andere Mitspieler nicht rösten, keine Löcher in den Tisch brennen...
Truly a big guy, that Dice... and because he's supposed to be a Christmas gift for the son of Birgit's customer as some kind of mascot during gambling evenings I tried to teach Dice some rules for good behavior before his departure such as don't roast the other players, don't burn any holes into the table...
           

       

Ob es was gebracht hat... tja, das kann man bei Drachen immer nicht so wissen... *hihi* Denn eines ist mal sicher - so unschuldig wie er guckt, ist er garantiert nicht... das haben Birgits Geschöpfe nun mal so an sich. Ich weiß, wovon ich rede... *lach*
If this worked... well, with dragons you can never be sure... *teehee* Because one thing is for granted - for sure he isn't as innocent as he looks to be... this is one thing all of Birgit's creations have in common. I know what I'm talking about... *LOL*

Ein Post mit vielen Zutaten

Hallo,

heute haben wir viel vor - denn nachdem wir letzte Woche nicht posten konnten, weil meine arme Birgit total erkältet war (und ist), müssen wir heute eben das Material für zwei Posts in einen packen. Wir beginnen mit unserem Gewinn beim Giveaway von Sharee, der vor einigen Tagen bei uns eingetroffen ist. Weit gereist ist dieses Päckchen... ganz aus Neuseeland - noch weiter weg geht wohl nicht... *schmunzel* Aber auch die längste Reise eines jeden an uns adressierten Päckchens endet bei einem Flatterbärchen, das den Weltrekord im Paketaufmachen hält! *lach*
... today we have a lot to do - due to the fact that we weren't able to post last week because my poor Birgit suffered from a bad cold (and still does) we have to put the content of two posts into one now. We are starting with our giveaway win from Sharee which arrived some days ago at our home. This package traveled very long for sure... all the way from New Zealand - couldn't be more far away from here... *smile* But even the longest travel of every package dedicated to us ends with a flutterybeary holding the world record in opening parcels! *LOL*

Rosey: Da hat wohl jemand heute Morgen einen Clown gefrühstückt... Aber selbstverständlich helfe ich Dir bei der Präsentation - und wir fangen auch gleich an mit all diesen wunderbaren Stoffstücken, der Spitze und den wunderbaren Perlen, sogar mit Rosenmotiv... Ist das nicht alles wunderschön?

Rosey: Looks like someone had a clown for breakfast this morning... But of course I'm helping you with the presentation - and we start right away with all those wonderful pieces of fabrics, the lace and the lovely pearls, even with rose motif... Isn't this truly beautiful?

          

           

Flutterby (murmelt): Und so rosa... wie kann man nur so verrückt nach rosa sein, ich versteh's nicht, und wenn ich 100 Jahre alt werde...

Rosey (lacht): Ich erklär's Dir dann an Deinem 101. Geburtstag...

Flutterby: Ich nehm' Dich beim Wort... allerdings, wenn wir das schaffen wollen, sollten wir uns vielleicht besser von diesen Pilzen fernhalten.

Flutterby (mumbling): And very pink... how can anyone be that crazy for pink, I don't understand it even if I should turn 100 years old...

Rosey (laughing): I'm going to explain this to you at your 101st birthday...

Flutterby: Okay, you owe me this... but if we want to make this we should better stay away from these mushrooms.

         

         

Rosey: Das überrascht mich jetzt... die müssten Dir doch gefallen, so von wegen erdbeerrot... ach ja... süße, rote, saftige, aromatische Erdbeeren... *seufz*

Flutterby: Sehr witzig, Miss Pretty in Pink... ich lache dann an Deinem 101. Geburtstag darüber.

Birgit (aus dem Hintergrund): *räuspert sich vernehmlich*

Flutterby: Öhm...

Rosey: Äh...

Flutterby: Was meinst Du, liebstes Schwesterlein, wollen wir weiter machen... also noch mal von vorn. Diese wunderbaren Pilztöpfe werden selbstverständlich in Gerties Expertenhände wandern.

Rosey: Genau! Und für die beiden Pflanztröge wird unsere liebe Birgit sich garantiert etwas Schönes einfallen lassen, meinst Du nicht auch, lieber großer Bruder?

Flutterby (flüsternd): Glück gehabt... keine Reaktion aus dem Hintergrund... dabei braucht man jetzt jede Menge Salz für Deine Schleimspur...

Birgit (aus dem Hintergrund): Fluby!!!

Flutterby (kichert): T'schuldigung... ich stelle wohl mal lieber meinen schönen Bollerwagen näher vor.

Rosey: I'm really surprised now... they should be right your alley with this strawberry red... oh my... sweet, red, juicy, aromatic strawberries... *sigh*

Flutterby: Very funny, Miss Pretty in Pink... I'm going to laugh at your 101st birthday about this one.

Birgit (from the background): *clears her throat*

Flutterby: Well...

Rosey: Eh...

Flutterby: Say, dearest Sis', shouldn't we better continue... once more from the start. These gorgeous mushroom pots will of course get into the expert hands of Gertie.

Rosey: Sure! And I have no doubt our dear Birgit will find a good use for these two empty pots, don't you agree, dear big brother?

Flutterby (whispering): You're lucky... no reaction from the background... although we'll need plenty of salt for the trace of slime you've left...

Birgit (from the background): Fluby!!!

Flutterby (giggling): I'm sorry... I'd better introduce mybeautiful cart now.

          

          

Rosey: Wie bitte? Wieso Deinen Bollerwagen?

Flutterby (grinst): Na, entsprechend der Hausordnung - ist es pink, gehört es Dir. Ist es erdbeerrot, gehört es mir. Und Du musst zugeben, dass so ein Bollerwagen enorm praktisch ist, wenn ich in meinem Garten Erdbeeren ernte. Und denk nur mal an Weihnachten!

Rosey: Ich denke immerzu an Weihnachten, aber was hat das mit dem Bollerwagen zu tun?

Flutterby (strahlt): Na, für all die Geschenke, die ich bekomme, weil ich so ein liebes Blogbärchen bin!

Rosey (leise): Das hält ja keiner aus... (laut) Vielleicht sollten wir mal schauen, ob man den Bollerwagen auch noch beim Ernten anderer Früchte einsetzen kann, was meinst Du? So viel ich weiß, hängen noch jede Menge Trauben an unserem Wein.

Rosey: What's this? Why your cart?

Flutterby (grinning): Well, according to the house order - if it's pink it belongs to you. If it's strawberry red it belongs to me. And you have to admit that such a cart comes in handy when I'm harvesting strawberries in my garden. And just think about Christmas!

Rosey: I'm thinking about Christmas all the time but where's the link to that cart?

Flutterby (beams with joy): Of course for all the presents I'll get because I am such a nice blogbeary!

Rosey (silent): I can't stand it... (loud) Maybe we should have a look if that cart can also be used for harvesting other fruits, what do you think? As far as I know there are still a lot of grapes hanging on our vines.

Ja, da hat meine kleine Schwester mal eine gute Idee gehabt, denn unser Rebstock auf der Terrasse hat dieses Jahr wirklich sehr gut getragen. Schaut mal, das ist schon die 3. Schüssel voll, die wir geerntet haben:

Nicht schlecht für uns hier oben hoch im Norden, oder? Und die Trauben sind richtig süß... nur leider sehr klein und deswegen nicht so schön zum Essen wegen der Schale und der Kerne, wir machen deshalb einen superleckeren Saft daraus. Da muss man dann allerdings gut aufpassen, dass man sich nicht auf's Fell kleckert... *hihi*

Not bad for us living this high in the North, isn't it? And the grapes are really sweet... but sadly very small and therefore not so good for eating because of the skin and the seeds but we're using them to make a yummy juice. But you have to pay a lot of attention not to spill anything of this on your fur... *teehee*

Aber nun weiter im Text... diesen Montag hatte ein ganz besonderer Mensch Geburtstag - meine Freundin Shania! 9 Jahre ist der kleine Krümel nun schon alt... wie die Zeit vergeht... hach... da wird auch ein Flatterbärchen schon mal sentimental. Auch von dieser Stelle aus noch einmal herzlichen Glückwunsch und alles Gute von uns allen, liebe Shania! Meine Freundin hatte dieses Jahr einen Wunsch an Birgit - sie wollte gerne 2, 3 Minicupcakes haben. Shania arbeitet nämlich gerade an einem ganz besonderen Projekt - einer "Roombox-to-go" in einem Schuhkarton für eine kleine Freundin von ihr, die leider sehr krank ist. Und weil diese Roombox im Maßstab 1:24 ist, mussten es schon sehr kleine Süßigkeiten sein.

But we're marching on... this Monday was the birthday of a very special person - my friend Shania! This little Missy turned 9 years already... how time flies... sigh... this can even make a flutterybeary get sentimental. Also from this place once more Happy Birthday and best wishes from all of us, dear Shania! This year my friend asked Birgit to grant her a wish - she wanted to have 2,3 mini cupcakes. Right now Shania is working on a very special project - a "roombox-to-go" in a shoebox for a little girlfriend of hers who is sadly not healthy. And because this roombox is in 1:24 scale it had to be very small sweets.

          

            

Ihr seht, Birgit hat sich bemüht... und selbst wenn einiges doch noch zu groß sein sollte, aber mal ehrlich... eine Marzipantorte z. B. kann doch gar nicht groß genug sein, oder? *lach* Und natürlich hat Birgit auch noch ein bisschen anderes Zeug mit eingepackt, das hoffentlich von Nutzen sein wird.

You see, Birgit tried her best... and although some of this might be too big but honestly... for example a marzipan cake can't ever be big enough, right? *LOL* And of course Birgit included some more stuff which will hopefully be useful.

Und da es meiner Birgit ja nun nicht so gut geht, war es noch mehr als sonst selbstverständlich für mich, ihr beim Aktualisieren ihrer vielen Kalender zu helfen. Ihr wisst ja... ich bin ein Gentlebär. *grins* Mal sehen... ein Bild mit einer kleinen Kapelle und einem Sprichwort aus Japan: "Der edel Gesinnte liebt die Berge, der Weise hat seine Freude am Wasser."

And now to today's next topic - Welcome in October! OCTOBER!!! Incredible... And with my Birgit not feeling well it was even more than usual obvious that I had to help her with the update of her several calendars. As you all know... I am a gentlebear. *grin* Let's see... a picture of a little chapel and a proverb from Japan (as always I'm not going to quote but try to say it in my own poor English) about the noble one loving the mountains and the wise one finding joy at the waterside.

          

           

Nun gut, wenn sie meinen, die Japaner... ich bärsönlich finde eigentlich Beides schön, ich meine, es gibt schon herrliche Fleckchen auf unserer guten alten Erde, findet Ihr nicht auch?  Aber natürlich habe ich noch ein paar schöne Gedanken für den Monatsanfang für Euch heraus gesucht - Bob Dylan hat einmal gesagt: "Was bedeutet schon Geld? Ein Mensch ist erfolgreich, wenn er zwischen Aufstehen und Schlafengehen das tut, was ihm gefällt." Na, in dem Fall bin ich aber ein total erfolgreiches Bärchen... *lach* Und noch ein schöner Gedanke von Horaz: "Der ideale Tag wird nie kommen. Der ideale Tag ist heute, wenn wir ihn dazu machen."

Okay, if they think so these Japanese... bearsonally I like both very much, I mean there are quite some beautiful spots here on our good ol' earth, don't you agree? But of course I have some more nice thoughts for the new month's beginning - Bob Dylan once wondered about the meaning of money - a man would be successful if he could do what he wants to do from dawn until dusk. Well, according to this I would be one successful beary... *LOL* And another nice thought by Horaz about the perfect day which will never come - the perfect day would be today if we turn it into it.

Und in dem Sinne ist das heute dann wohl der ideale Tag für eine traurige Nachricht - so leid es uns tut, aber nach reiflicher Überlegung hat Birgit entschieden, dass der Kaffeeklatsch direkt aus der Sommerpause in den wohlverdienten Ruhestand geht. Wir sind deswegen auch sehr traurig, weil wir immer viel Spaß bei den Fotoshootings hatten und es schön war, wenn sich auch all die anderen BiWuBärchen zeigen konnten. Aber es ist leider so, dass in unserem realen Leben sehr viel passiert ist seit Ende Juli - uns fehlt jetzt einfach die Zeit dafür und wir möchten uns lieber auf unsere regulären Posts konzentrieren... und natürlich auf's Basteln! ;O) Hinzu kommt, dass wir seit einiger Zeit erhebliche Probleme haben, Bilder und Links in unsere Posts einzufügen, das dauert alles gefühlt endlos... all das hat dazu geführt, dass wir leider sagen müssen: "Tschüß, Kaffeeklatsch, mach's gut!" Wir hoffen, Ihr könnt das verstehen...

Having this in mind today would be the perfect day for some sad news - we're awfully sorry but after some heavy thinking Birgit has decided that our "Kaffeeklatsch" goes right away from its summer break into a well deserved retirement. We all regret this very much because we always had loads of fun during these photo shootings and it was so nice for all the other BiWuBearies to appear here. Sadly since the end of July a lot has happened in our real life - and now we really lack the time for it and we prefer to concentrate on our regular posts... and of course on crafting! ;O) Furthermore since some time we have big problems with uploading pictures and links to our posts, this takes very much time... all of this lead to the conclusion that we sadly have to say: "Goodbye, Kaffeeklatsch, farewell!" We hope you'll understand...

Magische Wärme

Hallo,

heute zeige ich Euch, wie es mit dem Kamin für Gertie Gumthrop weiter gegangen ist. Es stehen ja auch noch einige Fragen aus... Stichwort Dämonenschädel... und ich hatte Euch ja auch schon verraten, dass Birgit irgendwann an einem Punkt war, wo sie die Hilfe eines Experten brauchte. So viele offene Fragen... da macht es ja nichts, wenn noch eine weitere Frage dazu kommt, oder? *kicher* Die nächste offene Frage wäre: Was will Birgit mit diesem Plastikdrachen???
... today I'm going to show you the next steps with Gertie Gumthrop's fireplace. There are still some unanswered questions... think of the demon skull topic... and I have already told you that at some point Birgit was in need of an expert. So many unanswered questions... well, it doesn't matter if we're going to add another one, does it? *giggle* The next unanswered question would be: What is Birgit planning with this plastic dragon???
     

         

Von der Farbe her wäre der ja wohl eher was für meine kleine Schwester... *grins* Aber für Gertie? Nun, auch dieser kleine Plastikdrachen (von Playmobil) spielte in Birgits Konzept für Gerties Kamin eine Rolle... und auch einige von den wunderbaren Geschenken, die wir von lieben Blogfreunden bekommen haben, sollten nun endlich einen Ehrenplatz bekommen.
Regarding the colour it would be perfect for my little sister... *grin* But for Gertie? Well, this little plastic dragon (from Playmobil) was dedicated for a role in Birgit's concept for Gertie's fireplace... as well as some of the wonderful gifts we received from dear blogfriends which are supposed to finally get a place of honor.
       

        

Die Maske links im Bild haben wir von Maria bekommen, alles andere waren Geschenke von Tatiana. Birgit sagt, es ist einfach nur toll, wenn man so wunderbare Geschenke von hochtalentierten und lieben Blogfreunden für die Deko zur Verfügung hat. Allerdings ist es ebenso toll, wenn man auf die Hilfe von Freunden zählen kann... ich sagte ja bereits, Birgit brauchte irgendwann die Hilfe eines Experten... Und schon im nächsten Augenblick kündigten magische Sterne an, dass diese Hilfe unterwegs war...
We received the mask at the left in the picture from Maria, everything else were gifts from Tatiana. Birgit says it's just gorgeous to have such wonderful gifts from dear and talented blogfriends when it comes to decoration. But it's gorgeous as well if you can count on your friends' help... as I said before Birgit was in need of an expert... And in the next moment magical stars were announcing that help was already on the way...
        

         

Borthud: Hallo Fluby, schön Dich zu sehen!

Flutterby: Hallo Borthud! Du bist also der Experte, ohne dessen Hilfe Birgit nicht weiter kommt!

Borthud (grinst): Sieht so aus. Für irgendwas müssen all die Jahre auf der Zaubererschule ja wohl gut gewesen sein...

Flutterby: Immer wieder erstaunlich, dass auch Ihr magischen Wesen das alles erst lernen müsst...

Borthud: Klar, bei der Magie ist es nicht damit getan, einen Zauberstab zu schwenken und einen Zauberspruch zu murmeln... man muss das schon beherrschen, sonst kann es gefährlich werden. So wie heute, wo wir ein wenig mit dem Feuer spielen werden...

Flutterby: Ich bin schon sehr gespannt... und ganz begriffen habe ich es ehrlich gesagt immer noch nicht. Warum braucht Birgit Deine Hilfe, um ein Feuer im Kamin zu entfachen?

Borthud (lacht): Nun, für ein normales Kaminfeuer würde Birgit mich nicht brauchen... aber wir Hexen und Zauberer haben keine normalen Kaminfeuer.

Flutterby: Oh... ja, ich erinnere mich... Ihr habt immer grüne Asche in Euren Feuerstellen.

Borthud (nickt): Genau, denn unser magisches Feuer ist grün... Es ist übrigens schade, dass Ihr das in Eurer Welt nicht haben könnt. Magisches Feuer rußt nicht und es gehorcht dem Zauberer auf's Wort, d. h. es lodert ganz nach Bedarf mehr oder weniger... da kann Dir die Hütte nicht abbrennen. Aber nun genug der Worte, jetzt wird gezaubert. Pass auf... als Erstes brauchen wir ein Feuer...
Borthud: Hi Fluby - nice to see you!
Flutterby: Hi Borthud! So you are the expert whose help Birgit needs so urgently!
Borthud (grinning): You might be right... and somehow all those years at the wizard's academy should have been worth the time...
Flutterby: It's always amazing that even you magical beings have to do a lot of studies...
Borthud: Sure, magic isn't about waving a wand and muttering a spell... you need to know what you're doing or otherwise it can become dangerous. Like today when we intend to play along with fire.
Flutterby: I'm already excited... although I still don't understand it. Why should Birgit need your help to light a fire in the fireplace?
Borthud (laughing): Well, Birgit wouldn't need me to light a normal fire... but we witches and wizards don't have normal fire.
Flutterby: Oh yes, I do remember... the ashes in your fireplaces is always green.
Borthud (nodding): Yes, because our magical fire is green... Btw it's somehow sad that you can't have this in your world. Magical fire doesn't produce any soot and obeys to every command of the magician which means it burns more ore less as needed... so you can't burn down your hut. But that's enough talking, let's now perform some magic. See... first we need a fire... 
       

         

Tja, und ehe ich es mich versah, tanzte ein Feuer fröhlich vor uns. Und das Schöne ist ja, dass man an der Seite eines Zauberers keine Angst haben muss, dass etwas passiert oder so... Borthud jedenfalls machte weiter mit seinen Magie und nur einen Augenblick später war daraus ein magisches Feuer geworden.
Well, and in a wink of an eye a fire was flickering in front of us. And the best part is - with a wizard by your side you don't have to be afraid at all... Borthud continued to perform his magic and just a moment later it had transformed into magical fire.
        

        

Borthud: So, bitte schön... einmal magisches Feuer für Gerties Kamin, wie gewünscht und bestellt.

Flutterby: Immer wieder unglaublich...

Borthud (lacht): Für unsereinen die normalste Sache auf der Welt. Aber jetzt entschuldige mich, ich muss zurück in die magische Welt, den Rest kann Birgit jetzt auch ohne mich erledigen.

Flutterby: Ja, aber... was ist mit dem Feuer hier?

Borthud: Keine Bange, Birgit weiß, was sie zu tun hat. Geh mal nachschauen, sie wird die Feuerstelle inzwischen vorbereitet haben. Bis zum nächsten Mal, Fluby!
Borthud: Here we are... one magical fire for Gertie's fireplace as requested and ordered.
Flutterby: As always... incredible...
Borthud (laughing): For us magical beings it's the most common thing in the world. But now excuse me, I got to go back to the magical world and Birgit is able to do the rest without me.
Flutterby: But... what about the fire here?
Borthud: Don't worry, Birgit knows what to do. You should better have a look because I suppose she will have prepared the fireplace in the meantime. Until the next time, Fluby!

Und schon war er wieder weg... nur gut, dass ich an so was gewöhnt bin. *lach* Man weiß hier auch nicht immer, ob die Dinge so sind wie sie scheinen... ob Feuer nun durch Magie entsteht... oder es sich vielleicht doch nur um Plastikflammen von Playmobil handelt, die Birgit bemalt und beglitttert hat... wer kann das so genau sagen? *zwinker* Aber ich weiß, dass Borthud Recht damit hatte, dass Birgit inzwischen die Feuerstelle vorbereitet hatte. Siehe da... sogar grüne Asche!*schmunzel*
And he disappeared... I'm lucky being used to this kind of stuff. *LOL* And around here you can never be sure whether things really are as they appear to be... whether a fire was made by magic... or if we are dealing with plastic flames from Playmobil painted and glittered by Birgit... who could ever tell? *wink* But I really know Borthud was right about Birgit having prepared the fireplace in the meantime. Look... even green ashes! *smile*

... aber natürlich fehlte da noch so einiges... z. B. ein Kamingitter. Denn auch wenn magisches Feuer auf's Wort gehorcht, aber die Grenzen muss man ihm schon aufzeigen. Aus einem Stück von dem Schmuckstein-Gitternetz, das Birgit schon für die Rückwand der Feuerstelle benutzt hatte, und mit Hilfe des Plastikdrachens vom Anfang dieses Posts, der netterweise noch einen Zwilling mitgebracht hat, entstand dann das Kamingitter.
... but of course there was still something missing... for example a fender. Although magical fire obeys every word of its master you still need to show where the borders are. From another piece of this rhinestone-net Birgit had already used for the back of the fireplace and with the help of the plastic dragon from the beginning of this post who was kind enough to bring his twin brother with him the fireplace fender was created.
             

          

Und nun - ENDLICH - war es Zeit zum Dekorieren! Als Erstes hat Birgit sich den Spiegel vorgenommen, der während der ganzen Arbeiten immer noch durch Folie geschützt war. Der wurde matt bemalt und mit einem von Birgits Drachenköpfen verziert, die sich sonst an ihren doppelseitigen Zauberspiegeln finden. Hier ist mal ein Beispiel, damit Ihr wisst, wovon ich rede...
And now - FINALLY - it was time to decorate! First Birgit was working on the mirror which was still protected with foil during the work process. This was treated with mat paint and decorated with one of Birgit's dragon heads, the ones she usually uses for her two-sided magical mirrors. Here is an example to show you what I'm talking about.

... aber natürlich noch nicht gut genug. Ich meine, ein bisschen mehr Deko darf es ja ruhig noch sein, oder? Und wir wollen ja auch nicht vergessen, dass da immer noch die ungelöste Frage nach den letzten beiden Dämonenschädeln von Jane im Raum stand... *grins* Aber das verrate ich Euch dann im nächsten Post...

Haha... das wollte ich schon immer mal machen... herrlich... nein, keine Bange... heute kommen wir mit dem Kamin zum Ende. Und was die Dämonenschädel angeht... Ihr werdet es inzwischen längst erraten haben... die bekamen einen Ehrenplatz:

Die anderen beiden Dämonenschädel befinden sich ja bei dem treuen Baumbutler James in guten Händen... äh... Baumscheiben. Und weil James neben dem Kamin stehen wird, sind die Dämonenschädel dann wieder schön beieinander. Nun noch die beiden Geschenke von Maria und Tatiana und noch einen von Birgits eigenproduzierten kleinen Totenköpfen und dann fand Birgit, dass es so genau richtig wäre. Doch schaut selbst:
The other two demon skulls are in safe hands... eh... slices with James, the trusty Tree Butler. And because James will stand next to the fireplace all four demon skulls will be united again. After decorating the other gifts from Maria and Tatiana and using one of her own tiny skulls Birgit decided it was just right this way. But look for yourselves:

Wenn die Abende wieder kühler werden...

Hallo,

heute testen wir mal das Gedächtnis unserer lieben Leser! *schmunzel* Ihr erinnert Euch bestimmt, dass ich kürzlich ein paar Fragen aufgeworfen habe - da ging es um zwei von Janes Dämonenschädeln... vor allem aber um die Frage, was Birgit wohl als Nächstes für Gertie machen würde. Nun, diese Frage werde ich Euch heute beantworten - und zu den Dämonenschädeln kommen wir dann auch noch... *grins*
... today we're going to test our dear readers memories! *smile* I think you still remember I was wondering about a few questions lately - about the demon skulls made by Jane... but even more about the question what would be the next thing Birgit would be doing for Gertie. Well, I'm going to answer this question today - and we'll also get to the topic of the demon skulls... *grin*

So langsam hat Birgit ja alle Möbel für Gerties Altersruhesitz zusammen - aber ein ganz wichtiges Möbelstück hat immer noch gefehlt. Wie Ihr wisst ist Gertie ja schon lange im Ruhestand, sie hat Rheumatismus und ihre Knie sind schon schwach (ja, dagegen hat nicht einmal eine Kräuterhexe ein Gegenmittel). Und so eine ältere Dame, egal ob Hexe oder nicht, die hat es gerne warm... vor allem, wenn jetzt die Abende wieder kühler werden. Und so stand denn ein Kamin für Gertie noch auf Birgits To-do-Liste - und dafür hat Birgit dann mal sehr intensiv in ihren Irgendwann-für-irgendwas-Kisten gesucht. Und irgendwann hat sie ihn dann gefunden, den Kamin-Rohling, den sie eigentlich für Mysteria's Wohnzimmer im Neuen Hexenturm vorgesehen hatte.
By now Birgit has almost done the furniture for Gertie's retirement home - but one very important piece of furniture was still missing. As you know Gertie is retired since ages, she suffers from rheumatism and her knees are weak (yes, not even a herb witch knows an antidote against this). And every elderly lady, whether a witch or not, likes it warm and cozy... especially now when the evenings are getting colder again. And so a fireplace for Gertie was still on Birgit's to-do-list - and it made Birgit go on an intense search in her Somewhen-for-somewhat-boxes. But somewhen she had found it, the bare wood fireplace she had intended to use in Mysteria's living room in the New Witch Tower.
           

              

Wer sich von unseren langjährigen Lesern noch daran erinnert, dem bescheinige ich jetzt ganz amtlich ein ausgezeichnetes Gedächtnis *grins* - für alle anderen kurz zur Erinnerung: Leider war dieses eigentlich schöne Teil ein paar mm zu hoch für die Dachkonstruktion vom Neuen Hexenturm, so dass Birgit sich damals eine andere Kaminlösung für Mysteria und Borthud ausdenken musste (Wer sich erinnern möchte - bitte schön... einfach hier klicken). Aber nun sollte dieses Teil als Grundlage für Gerties Kamin dienen... Als Erstes hat Birgit die oberen Seitenverzierungen abgedeckt, weil die ihr nicht gefielen und nicht in ihr Konzept passten. O-Ton Birgit: "Das wäre nur dann eine passende Deko, wenn ich mal einen Kamin für den Osterhasen machen müsste." *grins* Außerdem wurde die Feuerstelle mit einem Schmucksteinnetz verziert und später noch mit einer Bordüre aus Blattschmucksteinen. Vor allem aber hat Birgit jede Menge Kerben in das Holz geschnitten, denn glatt und neu, das ging ja mal gar nicht. Und auch das Kamingitter wurde entfernt, zum einen, um besser an der Feuerstelle arbeiten zu können, zum anderen, weil es Birgit nicht gefiel.

All of our long-time readers who still remember this get an official certificate for an extraordinarily good memory from me *grin* - and to all the others a little reminder: Sadly this nice piece turned out to be a few mm too tall for the roof construction of the New Witch Tower so Birgit had to think of another fireplace solution for Mysteria and Borthud (Those who would like to remember - you're welcome... just click here). But now this piece should become the base of Gertie's fireplace... At first Birgit covered the side decorations at the top because she didn't like them and they didn't fit in her concept. Original saying by Birgit: "This would only be a good decoration if I would ever have to build a fireplace for the Easter bunny." *grin* Next the fireplace was covered with a rhinestone net and later with a border from rhinestone leaves. But above all Birgit has cut many notches into the wood because smooth and new was for sure a no-go. And the fender too was removed to allow better access to the fireplace but also because Birgit didn't like it.

           

           

Danach kamen erst einmal Birgits Pinsel zum Einsatz - und dann sah der Kamin so aus:

Als Nächstes hat Birgit an einer Rückwand für die Feuerstelle getüftelt. Dazu hat sie folgende Zutaten genommen: Dünne Pappe in zwei Lagen, einige Schmucksteine und einen Drachen-Charm.
The next thing Birgit had to create was a fire back plate. This is what she used: Two layers of thin cardboard, some rhinestones and a dragon charm.

               

             

Und nachdem dieses Teil schwarzsilber gepinselt wurde, hat Birgit einen kleinen Test gemacht...
And after this piece was painted in black silver Birgit made a little test...
            

            

... passt und sieht gut aus. Allerdings wurde die Pappe erst viel später eingeklebt - Schutzmaßnahme gegen Kleckern... *lach* Und Ihr habt es sicher schon entdeckt - nicht nur Birgits Pinsel kamen zum Einsatz, auch die Alufolie wurde wieder benötigt. Der Kamin soll nämlich sozusagen aus der Felswand in Gerties Raum herauswachsen, auf dem nächsten Bild kann man das schon sehen.

Nevertheless the plate was glued in place much later - protection against spilling... *LOL* And I suppose you've already discovered it - not only Birgit's brushes were active again but the Aluminium foil too was needed once more. You must know the fireplace is supposed to grow out of the roof wall in Gertie's room, you can see this better at the next picture.
       

             

Natürlich musste der "Felsen" noch bemalt werden... und Birgit hat noch ein weiteres kleines Detail vorbereitet. Na, könnt Ihr es entdecken?
And of course the "rocks" needed to be painted... and Birgit added  another tiny detail. Say, can you spot it?
                  

            

Ja, ich gebe zu, es ist schwer zu sehen... deshalb kommt hier noch mal eine Nahaufnahme.
Okay, I admit it, it's hard to see... so here comes a close-up.

              

                      

Jetzt kann man es sehen, oder? Birgit hat die oberen Pfosten mit lufttrocknender Modelliermasse ummantelt, so dass die jetzt wie kleine Baumstämme aussehen. Und ich muss ja wohl nicht erwähnen, dass Birgit die kleinen Baumstämme auch noch bemalt hat. Aber das war noch nicht alles...
Now it's visible, isn't it? Birgit covered the upper posts with air-dry clay to make them look like tiny tree trunks. And do I even have to mention that Birgit also painted those little tree trunks? But this wasn't still all yet...

            

            

Nun sind es richtige kleine Bäume mit Laub geworden... Und damit verabschiede ich mich für heute - beim nächsten Mal löse ich dann das Rätsel um die Dämonenschädel auf... und zeige Euch, wie der Kamin am Ende aussehen wird... und warum Birgit zwischenzeitlich Expertenhilfe brauchte... ;O)
