Hallo,
... today I'm going to show you what was next on Birgit's to-do-list for Gertie's witch house after working on the windows and the door. Usually we would go on with the floor now or the walls... somehow all of those jobs that are necessary to build up such a house - well... eh... but don't forget we're talking about my Birgit here... *grin* And Birgit thinks different about these things - in her opinion Gertie was more in need of a nice comfy place to sit... and that's why today's topic is about a chair for Gertie - and also about the question what a chair might have to tell... if only it was able to talk...
It all started with this lovely piece Birgit found in her Somewhen-for-somewhat-stash:
For sure a lovely chair that fits in almost everywhere... stressing the "almost"... because it wouldn't fit in a retirement home of a herb witch... at least according to Birgit. So she grabbed one of her brushes, took out her watercolour box and happily started to spread colour everywhere. Did I say colour? Well... colours would be much better - because Birgit not only wanted to change the chair's colour but she also wanted it to get a used and shabby look. See yourselves if she managed to do so:
But Gertie Gumthrop really liked it this way...
... and that is what counts in the end. She said it was really comfy... just the right place for spending nice hours with a spell book, a cup of hemlock tea and some toad slime cookies (Yessss... I know for sure why I'm always eating something before visiting the witch tower inhabitants... no risk, as I alway say to myself... eh... where was I...) But the chair wasn't finished yet... some time later Birgit started to work on the legs because she didn't like the mahagony and she wanted it to match better with the rest of the interior.
Hmmm... vielleicht so etwas?
And this is how it looks now... But Birgit is still thinking whether she should add some claws to the chair's legs... let's wait and see. And I was somehow thinking what the chair might have to say about this makeover if only it would be able to do so. Hmmm... maybe something like this?
Warum ich??? Ich hab' doch niemandem etwas getan???
Why me??? I never did any harm to anyone???
Oder doch eher etwas in der Art?
Or perhaps it would be something like this?
Toll - ich bin jetzt ein Einzelstück!!!
Great - I'm an ooak now!!!
Nun ja... manche Dinge bleiben eben ein ewiges Rätsel... *lach*
Well... some things are meant to stay a secret forever... *LOL*
Liebe Grüße / Hugs

Hello Flutterby,
Wow! Birgit really transformed a lovely chair into something wonderful. The green is beautiful and looks perfect. Used but not damaged. It has so much more character. I love the idea of a face on it.
Big hug,
Giac
The green certainly looks good for a retired witch. I love the cross-eyed face with the smile on.
This project fun to follow!
Hugs, Drora
The new look of the chair is funny!
Toll

Hallo Fluby! What a pity of this beautiful chair for being changed into a weathered chair for a witch, but..........you both are completely right: witches don't sit in such a posh chair ;O! I think that your Birgit is a wise woman, who really knows what her Gertie deserves :D! The result of her work is stunning and I can't wait to see the claws, I hope they won't be too scary...;)?!
Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona
I was thinking, hey, could that chair really fit Gertie?! And then, with the new colour, it really does!! Such a great make over, I love it!

When you said 'take a brush to it' I thought argh, you will ruin it. But I actually love the green much better. I love that it looks as if it has been used too. It has so much more character =0)
Great special effects at the end of your post--nicely done. The chair looks fantastic--old, shabby, and comfy! xo Jennifer
Aber Hallo! Da hat Birgit wieder ganze Arbeit geleistet. Ein Prachtstück.
Liebe Grüße
Ulrike
The chair looks fantastic and just perfect for Gertie. She looks very relaxed and comfortable sitting in it. It is hard to believe its the same chair. Lol I don't think I would be brave enough to try this. Flubby tell Birgit you done a fantastic job.
Hugs Maria
I will agree with the others that the "new" "old" chair... or is it the "old" "new" chair... whichever!.... looks Muuuuch more "comfortable" for a witch like Gertie! And I would even add for ordinary folk like me who only take in the old worn out sort of chairs in the RL world! LOL! I think it looks wonderful in the new green and "well used" colors! But I do think we might have to worry if it is going to get claws too... because then Gertie might have to worry that the chair might "snag" her if it was in a bad mood... or even run away when she wanted to sit down!!! Imagine the charms she might have to put on it to keep it happy.....!!! :)
O acabamento da cadeira está ótimo!
Oh much better! The chair needed a bit of soil from the plantings and age to it to be nice and comfortable!
How about a grumpy chair? >:/
it is teh first smiling chair I meet:)
what a cutie:)
Birgit you have a very vivid mind and imagination , I am so lucky to have discovered your blog long ago :)
Great job and thank you for raising my spirits!:)
Well that chair certainly looks used and sat in, and spillt on... you know used. She has the knack to make it look as though it will fit in well to the tower.
Hugs Wilbur
mejor ahora!
I think the chair very original in this new version, but I would change the color of the feet.
