War da nicht was mit Ruhestand?

Hallo,

I've already announced in our last post that I'm going to show you today what happened in the meantime to Gertie Gumthrop's work desk. This much in advance: Somehow I'd expected the work desk of a retired herb witch to look different... to me this doesn't look like retirement at all. But Birgit said someone who loved her profession as much as Gertie couldn't help but stay interested in magical plants. Well, she might be right about that.. But back to the start - this is how Gertie's work desk and chair looked like the last time we have shown them:

Almost done - but Birgit wasn't satisfied with the knobs yet... but in the meantime she has fixed that.

Not very surprising at all... *LOL* The pumpkin knobs were somehow an obvious way to handle this and especially having the chair's design in mind, too. Just a moment, I'm going to show you these tiny guys once more in a close-up:

And after this was done it was finally (and according to Birgit this "finally" would be written like this: "FINALLY" *grin*) time to decorate. Birgit was really looking forward to this because she intended to use some very special miniatures for the work desk given to us by dear blogfriends.

Here we have for example the inkwell Melli has made just for us and yes, writing goes in style with blood. *giggle* From Maria we got the skull and Jane has created this beautiful book arrangement having Gertie in mind. And the shell box Drora gave to us shall finally find its destination now... Together with some miniatures and additions made by my Birgit the work desk looks like this now:

Here are some more pictures for you for more details:

*lach*
Really magical... and really crowded! Doesn't look at all as if it would belong to a retired herb witch, does it? *LOL*

Well, and after I've shown you Gertie's work desk now we come to another topic... Birgit is still convinced that the days in November don't have 24 hours as usual... *grin* Yes, the preparations for Advent etc. are already on the run - nevertheless it was a surprise when we received the first Christmas present lately! Yes, Santa was very early this year... *smile* We received this big envelope - are you able to guess from where it came and who sent it?

Sure - it came from Finland from dear Kikka! It was easy to guess because of the stamps with the moomins (and of course because it is written on the stamps... *teehee*) And inside we found something yummy and a well-filled bag with many promising surprises.

And now guess what - Rosey was really asking if we were allowed to look inside the bag... because Christmas was still so far away!!!

Oh my... sometimes I can only shake my head about my little sister... a true case of a beginner's mistake, tssss... Can you spot somewhere here a sign saying do not open before Christmas? That's it... no reason not to open the bag - and inside we found all these treasures:

So many potion jars for Gertie - how great is that?! We especially liked the bottle "Joy of Life" - wouldn't it be great if this could be filled in bottles, would it? But Rosey and I couldn't agree about the content of this little plastic bag (and Birgit would now say "as usual" *giggle*).

Rosey meint, das seien Preisschilder...
According to Rosey these are price tags...

*grins*
... but in my opinion they are tiny ghosts for decorating. Well, we've asked an expert - and what shall I tell you... professor Boo totally shared my opinion! *grin*

And for all of you having difficulties like us to understand that Christmas season is already very near we're trying to get you into a more festive mood now... with a photo of Kikka's beautiful Christmas shop she has sent to us.

Dear Kikka, antavat kiitosta! Thank you beary much for so kindly thinking of us und sending us so much joy... even captured in bottles! ;O)

Next time we are able to cover Gertie's retirement home with a ceiling... and now I have an appointment with the chocolate bar... ;O)

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

Where have all the pumpkins gone? Gertie picked them! I love the pumpkin decorations. They look perfect as knobs on the drawers. But the top of
Gertie's desk is a winner. I'm so very pleased to see my humble contribution in the best of company.
Kikka's gifts are wonderful. I love the cute ghost price tags. Enjoy the yummy sweet.

Hallo liebe Freunden :D! I agree with all other blog friends: Gertie's desk is amazingly and sooo 'witchy chic'. The pumpkins knobs look fantastic as decoration. But all of the stuff on her desk is the summit, really everything what a (retired ;O) witch will need is there. Birgit has been spoiled with nice stuff for her Gertie, I think that she have used them well for this desk. I also love the piled up documents with the jars filled with potions. I'm curious what Gertie will find about her new desk ;)!
And Kikka has spoiled you all with her lovely gifts, love those ghost tags, enjoy it all :D!
Christmas is coming near??? Oh, no: that's much too early for us ;)!! Not enough time to do so much things. But thankfully here we have first St. Nicholas Eve, yahoo :D!!
Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona
