Hallo,
... I'm really confused what should be today's first wish... a nice Advent 2nd or better first best wishes for St Nicholas Day? Well, I think I'm starting with St. Nick...
... I'm really confused what should be today's first wish... a nice Advent 2nd or better first best wishes for St Nicholas Day? Well, I think I'm starting with St. Nick...
I hope you have found something nice in your bootie this morning... (Here in Germany we have the habit to put one boot before the door in the night before St. Nicholas Day and he will fill it with goodies - if you behaved well over the year that is... if not you might just find some pieces of coal... *gulp*) Do you also wonder sometimes how St. Nick and/or Santa are able to deliver all these presents in such a short time? So far I've thought, well, Santa has his reindeer sleigh... until I found out that sometimes Santa might appear in a coach, too. Well... at least if Birgit is involved too somewhere... *giggle* Anyhow - it all started with a friend of Birgit giving to her a bag full with old Playmobil items her daughter didn't play with anymore. And in this bag were not only items perfect for miniature projects but also a complete Express Stagecoach by Playmobil. Sadly Birgit didn't think of taking a picture of it... but this stagecoach already came in red and green and made Birgit at once think of turning it into a Christmas coach - the Santa Express!

Ho ho ho!
Ho ho ho! *LOL* Yes, sometimes Santa Claus even comes in a horse coach... or is this St. Nick today? However... of course Birgit put a very good dose of christmassy Birgit-touch on everything...

And when I say "everything" I really do mean everything! *grin* Here you can have a closer look at the coach:

And I am still proud because Santa invited me to drive his coach for one time!

A fantastic experience - but an uncomfortable one too... because there's no way to deny it: This one time in my life even I am too big! *sigh* And so I wasn't able to climb inside the coach to sit next to the angels...

*freu*
... but Santa found a solution and so I too could have a ride with the Santa Express... *beams-with-joy*

But without Santa Express and even worse without her flutterybeary Birgit made a trip last week to one of the most famous Christmas Markets here in Northern Germany... This will be hard for our foreign readers to guess but here comes the picture riddle anyway:

There's a very clear hint at this photo... *grin* Nevertheless... here it is once more but a little more evident:

And - did anyone guess it? Yes - this is the famous Holsten Gate (which almost every German knows... at least the adult ones because it used to be on our 50 Deutsche Mark bill)... so Birgit visited the Christmas Market of Lübeck! And I had to stay hat home... because my Birgit fears I could get lost in crowded places like this... *sigh* But okay... somehow she might be right about that and I visited the BiWuBeary Christmas Market instead... but somehow I had expected she would bring a few pictures of Lübeck's Christmas Market with her - but she did not manage more than this one... it was just to crowded to take pictures she said.

Of course it was also crowded at Niederegger (that's the company producing the famous marzipan)... but nevertheless this is a must when being in Lübeck. Birgit says they've decorated their shop windows very beautifully with lovely scenes - like for example this nativity here... of course this is made of marzipan.

During World War II the old town of Lübeck was bombed and St. Mary's Church burned down inside... until finally the bells fell down from the burning bell tower. Two of these damaged bells were left untouched to remember...

But now it is time to lit the 2nd candle of the Advent wreath!
Rosey and I will now enjoy a nice, cozy Adventsundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" together - with one, two cups of tasty Adventsundayafternooncoffee and one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Adventsundayafternooncake *LOL* and will afterwards visit the BiWuBeary Christmas Market. And I bet this will be once more as nice and lovely as on this photo:

We're going to show more of this soon... ;O)

The Christmas coach is amazing.
Real and mini Christmas market are wonderful and funny; you can find beautiful Christas things.
The Astronomical clock is very attractive.
Dirk
Wow! Birgit certainly "Went to Town" with the decorations on the Santa coach! LOL! (We say that to mean she did a Fantastic, Abundant, Fancy Job!) I am sorry that it was too small for you to ride inside, Fluby, but it looks just as fun up there on the top! LOL! I know Birgit has a way with working over those Playmobil pieces, but I do think she has achieved a new standard of Awesome!!! I am also glad to hear Birgit got to go to the Christmas market for real! That must be a whole lot of fun! And I am glad that there is a Beary Christmas market that is just the right size for you and Rosey to visit in Safety! I must say, I am a Teeny bit Envious of your Christmas Market.... Someday I might maybe have some Dedicated to Christmas Mini Homes over here... but for now, I will get my Happiness dose from seeing your market, if I may! Thank you for Sharing!!! :):):)
Andrea
Dear Flutterby,
The Santa Express is awesome! Birgit did a splendid job on it.
And please thank her for sharing her trip to Lubeck with those wonderful
photos and stories.
Your Christmas Market is always fun to see. I wish you a lovely week ahead.
Hugs, Drora
Halloooooo!! Yesterday it was St. Nicholas Evening here in The Netherlands and we've had a loads of fun, Fluby, I can assure you that :DDD LOL!! But I guess that for you the second day of Advent will be more important ;)!
But your Birgit is an awesome decorator of all sort of Christmas things, look at that X-mas coach: it looks really awesome :D! It's such a pity that you didn't fit inside, but on the top you can even see much more, little friend.
I so loved seeing the pictures of Lübeck and the Christmas market, oh, how I would love to visit such a big city and its market with so many beautiful Christmas stuff...*sigh* ;o).
Finally you've made me so curious with that last picture to see more of your own cozy Christmas market, but also for reading the stories about all of the bearies. That's always a big pleasure for me during the Advent time :D.
I wish you all lots of fun and coziness for this evening and the coming week. Liebe Grüsse, Schepje und Ilona
Well, at least your market has some snow around. ;)
Thank you for sharing your trip! It is always great to see new places! Specially when one must sit home.:)
Over here we also put boots, but since we are greedy (teehee) we put two boots or more to get as many presents as possible. But of course if you are not good then all you can get is some twigs instead. :)
Of course I don't have to tell you how much Peevee and Lady Abigail are thrilled they will see Christmas Market on your blog! So of course we can't wait!
Have a great week ahead.
Hugs and kisses from the 3 of us!
Feliz semana.
Besos:-)
Hi! Best wishes for St Nicholas Day to you all! Birgit has been a very lucky one to vistit "Lübecker Weichnachtsmarkt!" Thank you for sharing the photos!
The Santa Express is wonderful and the BiWuBeary Christmas Market is gorgeous with a lovely atmosphere!

Hello Flutterby,
What a great post. I hope I get to visit a Christmas market in Germany one day. It looks wonderful! As for the playmobile carriage, it is superb...I wish I could come to work in one of those every day!
Big hug,
Giac

Herzlichst Yvonne
I love the Christmas coach! My daughter loves playmobil and I do too, it's fun to play together with it, and it was nice to see how wonderful it can look with a little decorations =)
