Hallo,
... today we're going to continue with Gertie's retirement home - as we learned from your comments on our last post many of you are really waiting to see the roof garden. *smile* Well, I hope you won't be disappointed... but it still takes some time until we'll get there. When we left the construction area of Gertie's last year the walls of the living room had just been finished and fixed. No doubt about it - before a roof garden can be installed it was necessary to fix the ceiling which will become the base of the roof garden. This is the piece I'm talking about...

... with the little appendix in front of me being the top part of the exterior stairways. Birgit spent some time with thinking about how to create the ceiling for Gertie... and as always my Birgit came up with many ideas being more or less crazy... From all of these she finally picked one. On top there were some requirements needed to be fulfilled: The ceiling was not intended to become too colourful with too much details - the planted rocks are already colourful and detailed. And Birgit likes her magical places to have some things in common, for example both witch towers share the night sky. Here's a little reminder - first the New Witch tower...

... und hier der Alte Hexenturm.
... and next the Old Witch Tower.

So Gertie's home also needed to get a night sky - which looked like this in the beginning:

But Gertie being Gertie there was also some additional touch of herb witch ambiance needed:

Green and Gertie Gumthrop is always a good combination! *LOL* Next to come was a decorative border - and anyone who is like Birgit with her poor arms not able to work well with wood needs to have unusual ideas. In Birgit's case this was a 3D sticker border she had since almost forever in her stash without having any ambition to ever use this disgusting shimmery piece for a card or whatever.
But now this border could finally be of use... together with another sticker border which was stuck on top. I hope you're able to see the difference between the one in front to the two borders in the back at the photo.
Danach noch etwas Farbe drauf...
Next step was a little paint...
... and although the second coat is still missing you can already recognize that with Birgit's help the useless sticker turned into a decorative border which can be easily cut - which is indeed important with this specially shaped ceiling.
And after the decorative border à la Birgit as well as some rhinestones for starry sparkle were attached Gertie's ceiling looked like this:
Already looking good.... But although the intention was to have it not too colourful - but a little more decoration was added still. And this explains the title of this post now - voilà: Leaves at a starry sky!
I'm going to show you a close-up, maybe you are able to notice that Birgit even included some "moss" to the green border.
And in the end Gertie's ceiling looked like this:
And the best part is - now with the ceiling being finished, the construction of the living area is finished and work on the roof garden can start! *beams-with-joy* Nevertheless... you can never be too sure with my Birgit... maybe she has some other ideas first what she needs urgently to do... a planting table for example... or even more magical plants... or maybe the drawing for our giveaway... Incredible - February 14th is already in sight now! ;O)
Liebe Grüße / Hugs
