Frohe Weihnachten!

Hallo,

 

da sind wir schon wieder... tut uns ja auch leid, kaum habt Ihr Euch durch den 4. Advent-Post gequält, da kommen wir schon wieder mit unserem Weihnachtspost daher. Beschwert Euch beim Kalender... *grins* - denn der sagt schließlich, das es nun endlich so weit ist: Heute ist Heiligabend - Weihnachten ist da! Ich hoffe, Ihr habt alles erledigt, was zu erledigen war und habt Zeit für einen kleinen Weihnachtskaffeeklatsch - und eine kleine Geschichte.
… here we are again… we're somehow sorry, you've just struggled to get through our post for Advent 4th and now we're already back again with our Christmas post. Blame it on the calendar… *grin* - because he's the one saying that today is the big day: Today is Christmas Eve - Christmas is here! I keep my paws crossed that all of you have managed to do what you had to do and that you're now having the time for a little Christmas-"Kaffeeklatsch" - and a little tale.

Noch mehr spannende Päckchen zum Öffnen für einen gewissen Champion im Paketeöffnen in der Bärchenklasse bis 10 cm! Ich werde wirklich viel zu tun haben... ach, ich freue mich schon! Aber nun zu unserer Weihnachtsgeschichte... sie spielt vor vielen, vielen Jahren in einem kleinen Dorf. Die Menschen waren arm, die Zeiten hart... noch härter als sonst denn in den Jahren zuvor gab es Krieg und die politischen Verhältnisse waren immer noch chaotisch. Und so freuten sich die Menschen in diesem kleinen Dorf, in dem unsere Geschichte spielt, ganz besonders auf Heiligabend... und auf den Weihnachtsgottesdienst. Leider hatte der Pfarrer dieses Dorfes ein großes Problem... die Kirchenorgel war beschädigt... aber er hatte einen Einfall. Er nahm ein Gedicht, das er vor einigen Jahren geschrieben hatte, und bat einen Freund, der Lehrer im Nachbarort war, ihm dafür eine Melodie zu schreiben. Der Lehrer hat zum Glück nicht lange dafür gebraucht und so konnten sie noch am gleichen Abend, zur Messe an Heiligabend, das neue Lied zusammen aufführen. Der Priester sang die Tenorstimme und spielte auf der Gitarre dazu (was bemerkenswert ist, denn Gitarre in einer Kirche war zu der Zeit ein Unding), der Lehrer sang die Bass-Stimme. Nicht mehr... und so einfach... aber das Lied berührte die Menschen des Dorfes sofort.

But now to our Christmas story… it occured many, many years ago in a small village. People were poor, times were hard… even harder than usual because in the years before there was war and the political circumstances still chaotic. That's why the people of this little village where our story is happening were really looking forward to Christmas Eve... and for the church service. But sadly the village's priest was in big trouble… the church's organ was damaged… but he had an idea. He took a poem he had written a few years ago and asked a friend of his who was a teacher in a neighbor village to write a melody to match the text. Luckily the teacher managed to do so very fast so they were able to perform their new song together at the same evening for the mass at Christmas Eve. The priest sang tenor and played guitar (which is remarkable because back in these days guitars in churches were a no-go) and the teacher sang bass. Nothing more… so very simple... but the song touched the people of the village at once.

Dies geschah vor genau 200 Jahren am 24. Dezember 1818 in der St. Nikola-Kirche in Oberndorf in Österreich. Der Name des Pfarrers war Joseph Mohr, der Lehrer hieß Franz Xaver Gruber. Ihr Lied hat seitdem die Welt erobert, es ist inzwischen immaterielles UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Und es ist nicht nur ein Weihnachtslied, sondern auch ein Friedenslied. So haben z. B. während des 1. Weltkrieges verfeindete Soldaten dieses Lied an Heiligabend zusammen in den Schützengräben gesungen. Jeder von Euch kennt es, sogar in Eurer eigenen Sprache. Es beginnt so:
Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht!
Alles schläft, einsam wacht
Nur das traute hochheilige Paar.
Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
This happened exactly 200 years ago at December 24th in 1818 at the St. Nikola Church in Oberndorf in Austria. The name of the priest was Joseph Mohr, the teacher's name was Franz Xaver Gruber. Their song has since then conquered the world, in the meantime it was proclaimed an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. And it's not only a Christmas carol but it's also a song of peace. For example during World War I soldier enemy soldiers sung this song together out of their defensive fighting positions at Christmas Eve. All of you know it, even in your own language. In English it starts like this:

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Aus einem kleinen, bescheidenen Anfang ist etwas Großes geworden... Und ich glaube, das kann man auch auf uns hier übertragen - und das nicht nur, weil die meisten unserer Leser Miniaturisten sind. Wir alle haben einen Blog, auf dem wir mal mehr und mal weniger posten... aber wir haben eine große Gemeinschaft, in der man sich hilft, inspiriert, Wissen teilt und aus der manchmal auch echte Freundschaften entstehen. Vielen Dank an Euch alle, dass Ihr Blogland zu einem besonderen Ort macht. Und  auch vielen Dank, dass Ihr alle so fest an mich glaubt, dass es für mich reichen wird mit den Pluspunkten im Goldenen Buch! ;O) Das wird sich nachher zeigen... aber erst nach einem schönen, gemütlichen Kaffeeklatsch an Heiligabend - mit ein, zwei Tässchen leckerem Weihnachtskaffee und ein, zwei, drei, vier Stückchen oberleckerem Weihnachtskuchen.
A very small and modest beginning turned into something great… And I think it's somehow the same with us at this place - and not just because most of our readers are miniaturists. All of us run a blog where we're posting more or less often… but we have a big community where we're helping and inspiring each other, sharing knowledge and which sometimes leads into real friendships. Many thanks to all of you for making blogland a special place. And also many thanks for trusting in me that my good points in the Golden Book will outweigh the bad points! ;O) This will show up a little later… but first a nice and cozy "Kaffeklatsch" at Christmas Eve is mandatory - with one, two cups of tasty Christmas coffee and one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Christmas cake.
