Kaffeeklatsch (Nr. 181)

Hallo,

Ihr wisst schon: 'Tis the season to be jolly... falalalalalalaaaaaaaa... *grins*
... I'm happy being your host today at this very special "Kaffeeklatsch" - because a "Kaffeeklatsch" at Advent 3rd is always something special - but I'm going to explain that in a minute. I am Jolly and I was named having the famous Christmas Carol "Deck the Halls" in mind... I bet you remember: 'Tis the season to be jolly... falalalalalalalalaaaaaaa..." Eh... okay... *clears-his-throat* I'm way much better in being jolly than in singing... *grin*

Aber zurück zum 3. Advent.
But back now to Advent 3rd. In the meantime more doors at the Advent calendar are open than closed and Christmas really isn't far away anymore. I do hope you've had a wonderful time of Advent so far - well, around here we really can't complain, certainly not. But we BiWuBearies do have it easy to enjoy a lovely time of Advent - we're lucky to have our own Christmas Market. But there's even more than this... everywhere it's looking festive whether in Fluby's Cottage, in Rubiel's Christmas Room, in our Christmas Shop... and not only in 1:12 - even in 1:1 everything is decorated for Christmas.

'tis the season to be jolly... *lach*
Advent means in a way arrival - you could say we're waiting the four weeks before Christmas with exitement for Christmas Day to come. And Advent 3rd is really special during this time - it carries the name "Gaudete"... we shall rejoice, looking forward to what will come - and being thankful for what we have. And won't you agree... a very good way to rejoice is of course a nice, cozy Sundayafternoonadvent-"Kaffeeklatsch", isn't it? So for this I'm wishing you loads of joy later on when the three candles will shine while your having one, two cups of tasty Sundayafternoonadventcoffee and enjoying one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Sundayafternooncake... Well, and of course I'm wishing to all of you a great week until Advent 4th - and take "Gaudete" with you this week... rejoice.. 'tis the season to be jolly... Yes, for sure... well, I do not have any trouble making this real - because I already AM Jolly... *LOL*

Liebe Grüße / Hugs

Wann ist eigentlich Bescherung?

Hallo,

*schmunzel*
... all over the world Christmas is celebrated in different ways... and also the day when the gifts are exchanged is different. Here in Germany we give and receive gifts on Christmas Eve evening... But somehow I being a small flutterybeary get a little confused these days because there are already so many gifts lying around here that I've started  to wonder whether we will be able to open all of them at Christmas Eve... *smile*

But before I start to show you who has been thinking so kindly of us I'd like to share a photo with you that refers to our last post. I've been telling you a bit about German Christmas traditions and also about the famous church of Seiffen. Well, I think it would be nice if I'm going to show it to you, too... of course not the real one, but Birgit owns a "Schwibbogen" showing the church of Seiffen. Okay, now it's time to be tough, because the combination of Birgit, her camera and photos made with festive darkness only... well... *clears-his-throat*

Yes, that's how the church of Seiffen looks like. And this photo can also been used as a picture riddle - have you been able to spot the little flutterybeary on it? *LOL* Well, you can discover me more easily at the next pictures because now I'd like to show all the very promising surprise packets we've received lately... We start with our dear Ilona who sent us this beautiful card with a motif of Marjolein Bastin.

Poor snowman... he's going to get rid of his nose real soon. *grin* But of course Ilona did not only send us this lovely card but also all of this:

Liebevoll verpackt und sooooooo spannend. Natürlich gab es für mich kein Halten, denn was von Ilona kommt, kann nur toll sein, also wollte ich mich gleich ans Öffnen machen...
Beautifully wrapped and soooooooo exciting. Of course there was no stopping me because what comes from Ilona can only be gorgeous so I wanted to start opening the packets...

... but immediately the well-known voice from the background could be heard: "Fluby, what are you doing?" Me: "Well, opening Ilona's packets." - "Haven't you noticed that these packets are dedicated to the four Sundays of Advent? And the one you just wanted to open is meant for Christmas - so please take away your paws." Rats, she's always taking this kind of stuff really serious, my Birgit... but okay... if this one is meant for Christmas then I'm going to concentrate on this very promising one because that's dedicated to me without any doubt!

Oh my, again I've been jolly too early - or this time not fast enough with opening. *sigh* Because now Birgit reminded me at once that this packet shall not be opened before Advent 4th... *deep-sigh* But to my big relief there was at least one packet that could be opened already.

Isn't this paper great - with the Black Pete on it who is very important in the Netherlands. And inside we've found another card and "Sinterklaas"-chocolate.

And this box of chocolate really had inner values, have a look - chocolate in the shape of a giant B! Even bigger than me!

*lach*
How great is that? A "B" for me only! *beams-with-joy* In Birgit's opinion this was meant for her... human beings... tssssss... only because her name starts with a B. Really... when it comes to B's I can easily top her, let's not forget that I am Flutterby, the blogbeary of the BiWuBears, flutterybeary and best-known for being a strawberry-lover, inhabitant of Strawberry Cottage, my friends call me Fluby, my buddy calls me Buddy and our friend Melli says whenever I'm wearing my scarf I would be the seaxiest beary alive. Birgit is never able to reach this with just one single B... I've been explaining this to her very patiently. She then started to mutter somehting that sounded like "it's really not easy for me around here"... *teehee*... but she couldn't deny that I'm way ahead of her in the case of the "B". But don't worry - I do like my Birgit so much that I'm going to share a piece with her. And I almost forgot this - I'm also well-known for being a gentlebeary! *LOL*

But this wasn't still all because we also received surprise parcels from Tine...

... und Silke...
... and Silke...

... und Rosanna.
... and Rosanna.

Dearies - to all of you once more a heartwarm "Thank you so much"!!!

I've already shown you the surprise packet of Tinchen, I'm still glad I was allowed to open it already. But until now I wasn't able to test it if it would fit for a "Kaffeeklatsch." But Lilly and U-Bärtinchen, the blogbearies of Tinchen have already tested it before it was sent to us:

*grins*
Have you ever seen two beary girls as pretty as these? *blush* Well, when it comes to cuteness I can't compete with them... but at least I'm wearing my lovely scarf. *grin*

A perfect mug for little BiWuBearies... very comfy and above all... the design!!! Anyhow I still wonder whether we should start to unwrap all our gifts right in the afternoon of Christmas Eve - otherwise we might not get it done... *teehee* And speaking of Christmas Eve - everywhere they start to sell Christmas trees now. Yesterday Birgit was in Plön (a bigger city in the area where we live) and it's hard to believe... she also had taken the camera with her! But as you would expect she didn't take many pictures because it was too misty (that's what she says - I think she simply forgot to take the camera out *giggle*) But at least she took a picture of the delivery of the Christmas trees.

Well, I'm lucky that I already have my own Christmas tree... and I'm even allowed to admire it before Christmas Eve... ;O)

Der BiWuBären-Weihnachtsmarkt 2013 - Teil 2

Hallo,

... before we continue our tour of the BiWuBear's Christmas Market today I would like to thank you - also in the name of Birgit and especially of her Dad - for all your kind congratulations to his Birthday!

But now enough of formalities - now we're going on with visiting the Christmas Market... and we're just starting with my most favourite booth of all... For sure - of course I'm talking about the "Zuckerbäcker" *giggle* (Well... how can I translate this... let's say it's a bakery especially for the ones with a sweet tooth)! Hmmm... there are so many yummy sweets and delicious treats - I wouldn't say no to testing every single one...

... but instead of this I'm showing you a close-up. (Hopefully Santa did notice what a well-behaved flutterybeary I am...)

Despite of the "Mozartkugeln" (a speciality, pralinés dedicated to Mozart) at the top on the left side and the box with Mars bars Birgit has made everything by herself. You can easily notice that because Birgit considered the likings of her family. You must know that in Birgit's family the most (but not Birgit) are crazy for the brown licorice confection. Just place a bowl full with Haribo Colorado at a family meeting at a table and you can see adult persons fighting for brown licorice candy! *LOL* Okay, before I'm getting into trouble - of course it's not that bad - and until now there never was any blood flowing. But for this reason our "Zuckerbäcker" offers pure brown licorice confection:

Please excuse the bad quality of the picture, we've made many, many tries and this turned out to be the best photo... but at least you can recognize the sweets. And now we go on to another very beautiful stall, the one where the fantastic "Erzgebirgische Holzkunst" (wood art from the Ore Mountains) is sold.

There are so many lovely items displayed...

... und noch mal näher dran...
... and a little closer...

Many of the wood minatures, especially the "Schwibbogen" were made by Volker Arnold. His work is truly amazing and who might be interested should have a look at his ebay-shop. But of course they also sell beautiful nativities here. And the two snowman scenes you're going to see at the next pictures were gifts from our dear friend Ascension.

And as many of our long-time readers know, the booth of the "Erzgebirgische Holzkunst" is every year the scene for a recurring drama... but that's a story for another post. Today I would like to end with the Christmas tree that belongs to this stall being of course decorated with lovely wood ornaments.

Birgit says this tree is on her to-do-list for next year, she thinks it needs a little makeover. Well, let's see... she gave a new outfit to the big Christmas tree of the Market this year and I must say it looks indeed better than before. But I'm going to show this to you the next time - we're not done yet with our tour... ;O)

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
Flutterby

A little background for our foreign readers

Many German Christmas traditions have found their way to all over the world where Christmas is celebrated. The first glass baubles were made in Lauscha, a city in Thuringia, and still "Lauschaer glass" is a synonym for high quality of Christmas baubles (btw also for glass eyes bear makers use). That's not very surprisingly - the habit of having a Christmas tree has its origin in Germany, too (although the first sources about Christmas trees are found in the Elsass).

Near to Lauscha is the area of the Ore Mountains in Saxony with the city of Seiffen with its famous church. Many of you know the typical silhouette of this church as a common motif on the "Schwibbogen" that have their origin in the Ore Mountains. There are different interpretations about the arc form, some say it represents the end of the miner's tunnel, others say it symbolizes the sky. But all agree that its origin comes from the miners' longing for light during long and dark wintertime.

Kaffeeklatsch (Nr. 180)

Hallo,

*zwinker*
... and a heartwarm welcome to the "Kaffeeklatsch" at Advent 2nd! We made it safe through the storm... and we're thankful for that. Sadly the hurricane brought the first snow with it so Birgit had no other choice then to date her snow shovel last Friday... being especially bad because the wind was still blowing heavily. Even I being a snowman can easily live without that white stuff when it comes under conditions like this... *wink*

But of course we can't live without a nice "Kaffeeklatsch", however we might celebrate it, can we? And at Advent 2nd with the shining candles this is even nicer than usual... so for this I'm wishing you loads of fun later on having one, two cups of tasty Sundayafternoonadventcoffee and enjoying one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Sundayafternoonadventcake. For us this Sundayafternoonadvent-"Kaffeeklatsch" is going to be extra special because for us it's a Sundayafternoonadventbirthday-"Kaffeeklatsch" (After writing down this word monster without making mistakes I truly deserve one more piece of cake, won't you agree? *giggle*) Today it's the birthday of a very special person - Birgit's Dad to whom we're wishing also from this place all the best and a heartwarm "Happy Birthday"!

Euch allen einen schönen 2. Advent und eine tolle Woche!
To all of you I'm wishing a lovely Advent 2nd and a great week!

Liebe Grüße / Hugs

Der BiWuBären-Weihnachtsmarkt 2013 - Teil 1

Hallo,

... we have prepared this post Thursday evening and until then we've passed the hurricane without any damages here... let's hope that this will last and that especially the North Sea coast won't get that much attacked as we all fear. At least we can hope... but sadly we in the North aren't still out of the danger zone and the storm flood is about to come.

Many children already had a school-free Thursday and at Friday all kids have to stay at home in our county Schleswig-Holstein (we live in the very North of Germany, above from Hamburg) - and due to security reasons the Christmas Markets are closed everywhere. But the BiWuBear Christmas Market is still open despite the hurricane... we won't surrender to this horrible weather being here in the safe living room! Would you like to come along with me on a little tour?

Okay, let's go! As you can see on that panorama view there's always a lot of business going on at our Market.

But being an experienced blogbeary I have prepared the pictures for my tour report long ago before all the beary customers filled the Market - so I'm able to show you every single stall without any problems. We're starting our tour at the right side with the stall that's called "Glashütte" (means glassworks, workshops where hot glass is blown into its form). Here they're selling beautiful glass figurines.

Here's a close-up for you - most of the glass miniatures were bought at Basticks'...

Yes, this stall is always a good advice for anybody who's still searching for a Christmas gift... *smile* But of course they're selling Christmas decorations, too:

Here you can find something for any taste, whether you'd like your Christmas tree being decorated the traditional or the trendy way. But of course a Christmas Market is not only for buying gifts and Christmas decoration, it's also about filling your stomache the yummy way. But our BiWuBear Christmas Market is quite different from the ones of the human beings, you won't find "Bratwurst" and this kind of stuff around here - here you'll only get sweets! *yummy* Well, we bearies are lucky to never have to struggle with hip problems... *LOL*.. and that's why the "Weihnachtsbäckerei" (= Christmas bakery) is always a well-visited stall.

Ah, so many sweet treats... this is really watering my little snout... Some of those treats were made by Birgit but she also bought some lovely pieces. And because we BiWuBearies - as you all know - never say no to a nice "Kaffeeklatsch" you can get a nice cup of coffee along with your cake here.

And also this extra table offers sweet temptations... usually one would have difficulties to decide because everything looks so tasty... But of course I don't have to think long about my choice, for me it has to be the strawberry cake... Oh my, strawberries... sweet, red, juicy, aromatic strawberries... *sigh* But now I'm just noticing that there's something missing of the chocolate decoration... eh... *clears-his-throat*

"Hallo, lieber Weihnachtsmann!
"Dear Santa, hello! It's me - Flutterby, for sure the most well-behaved flutterybeary in the whole wide world *coughcough*. I just wanted to say: It wasn't me! I have nothing to do with this! Big flutterybeary word of honor!!!"

What do you think - will Santa believe in me? And very important too - will Birgit believe me? Oh my... Christmas time is for sure wonderful but also quite exhausting - you always have to take care not to get any bad points in the Golden Book of Santa... But on the other hand... if it had been me, than we wouldn't have to talk about missing chocolate! ;O)

Don't get blown away and have a lovely weekend! Oh - and I nearly forgot: Best wishes for Santa Claus' Day - I hope your boots have been filled well (Here in Germany we celebrate on Dec 6th the Day of Saint Nikolaus aka Santa Claus - the children put one of their boots before the door and if they've been good they'll find sweets and tangerines and nuts and gifts in it at the morning... and if they've been bad they only find a piece of coal)

Willkommen im Dezember - XXL

Hallo,

... we wanted our Lady Carlotta to host her very own "Kaffeeklatsch" last Sunday so I had to wait until today to show you what our wisdom calendar has in store for us. No doubt, despite enjoying Christmas Market and Advent it was a question of honour to me helping my Birgit once more with updating her many calendars. And let's remember - December means even more work to do, I only throw the word "advent calendar" in! And those even need to be updated daily... But now let's start - maybe I'm able to make some additional last minute good points in Santa's Big Golden Book this way... *gulp* Our wisdom calendar offers us a saying by Voltaire this month (as always I'm not trying to quote but try to say it in my own poor English), he said the biggest and only task would be trying to make our lives happy.

Yes, that's a nice saying - especially during this special time where many people get easily stressed. But why - we bearies really don't get this... less is often more (except when strawberries are concerned... oh my, sweet, red, juicy, aromatic strawberries... *sigh*... but that's another topic). Christmas season shouldn't be about stress but it should be nice and peaceful and for sure happy (I really do agree with Mr. Voltaire in this point) and above all merry. Let's remember that in all languages we're wishing each other a MERRY Christmas, don't we? So let's enjoy the Christmas season without going on a quest for gifts, let's only give because we want to and not because we must and because we want to make someone happy. Right in the spirit of Theodor Fontane who said making someone happy ist the biggest happiness of all. And Georges Bernanos said finding your joy in the joy of someone else is the secret of happiness.

Dezember aufmachen durfte. Was glaubt Ihr wohl, was drin war?
Regarding this two dear blogfriends of ours are supposed to be very happy now because they surprised us with two lovely surprise packets and made us very happy with this. The first came from our dear Silke who sent us a parcel that was not supposed to be opened before December 1st. And what would you expect to be in it? *smile* For sure, an advent calendar - but not just anyone... this one:

An advent calendar by Marjolein Bastin - Birgit likes this great Dutch artist very much and has one of her calendars every year hanging in the corridor. Silke had kept this in mind and had especially chosen a Bastin-advent calendar for Birgit - how great is that? And now we can discover a lovely picture every day:

The second one thinking so kindly of us was Tinchen who sent us a packet yesterday. And inside we found *drumroll* an advent calendar - and one of another gorgeous Dutch illustrator, Hans de Beer, showing Lars, the little polar bear.

Not necessary to point out that this is now MY advent calendar - Birgit is allowed to open the one from Silke... *teehee* But that wasn't still all that's been in the packet because there was another gift, too!

Jippiiiieeee... also fix das Geschenkpapier beseitigt et voilá:
We had a close look whether there would be a note saying "Do not open before Christmas" or something like that - but to my big relief we found nothing like this! Yippiiieee... so getting rid of the wrapping paper in a wink of an eye et voilà:

*hach*
A beautiful strawberry mug!!! Tinchen has written she found it while spending her holidays at Mallorca and that she had to think of us at once... *sigh*

*yummy*
But at the moment it wouldn't be possible to use this mug for our "Kaffeeklatsch"-posts... it is filled so well that noone would be able to climb in. But honestly speaking... problems are just solutions in working clothes - and in this case the solution is right at paw: I'm going to make this mug empty... and I'm starting with this piece of strawberry chocolate... *yummy*

Did I ever mention that I am the happiest flutterybeary in the whole wide world? Ah, I did? Sometimes... every now and then? Well, that's okay... *LOL* I'm wishing to all of you a wonderful December - and remember Voltaire... it's all about being happy... ;O)

Kaffeeklatsch (Nr. 179)

Hallo,

*kicher*)
... now the time has come - the first of these so very special four Sundays before Christmas has come. And I am so glad having the honour to present the "Kaffeeklatsch" at the 1st Advent. And - did you open the first door of your advent calendar already? Well, last year Birgit's parents have found me being the first gift in their advent calendar and so it's not a coincidence that I was allowed to climb into the "Kaffeeklatsch"-mug today (and believe me, climbing ist not that easy for a Snow Lady like me... just try to climb without having legs... *giggle*)

Did you manage to finish your Christmas decoration just in time and everything else you've planned to have done before Christmas season begins? Well, Birgit had everything ready in time. Of course she was sighing many times about having far too much Christmas stuff, but around here we all know that this is a mandatory part of the preparations for Advent... *LOL* And later this day all the lights will shine - Birgit handles this very traditionally, she always says everything must have its own time and Christmas season only begins with the 1st Advent. And the BiWuBear Christmas Market will have its official grand opening today... *beamswithjoy* Well, Flutterby will show you around during the next days but I am allowed to show you the very first picture of this year's BiWuBear Christmas Market:

As you can see there are already lots of visitors... ah, finally the lovely smell of mulled wine and coffee and Christmas cookies and cake and sweets fills the air... for us this is the perfect place for today's Sundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch". But it doesn't matter if you're visiting a Christmas Market or lightning the first advent candle in your own living room - in any case a Sundayafternoon-"Kaffeeklatsch" during Advent is a great thing. And for this I'm wishing you loads of fun later on, having one, two cups of tasty Sundayafternoonadventcoffee and enjoying one, two, three, four pieces of yummy Sundayafternoonadventcake. And of course I'm wishing to all of you a great week on top!

Liebe Grüße / Hugs
